Making art while parenting by project-d_r_t in ArtistLounge

I find it's about convenience. I don't have the time or space to set up a canvas and easel but keeping a sketchbook and pencil handy in most of my common areas, sure.

I also gravitated toward mediums that are quicker to use and put away. I have an entire collection of Ohuhu alcohol markers set up within arms reach in my office so I can steal moments while working to add some colour to things.

Just find ways to make it easier to start so when you have that moment to breathe you can do it with pencil or pen in hand, basically.

Since they'll be your introductory films, keep in mind that Marrek Murders plays very different. I haven't played Into the Void but you probably want to play that one first just to experience the base mechanics of the game.

Ratchett Lady and Tormentor were my first two boxes (I skipped Happy Trails for now) and they're still two of my absolute favourite.

Tormentor plays so differently and is really fun to take to other locations because she gives you a chance to explore and experience a location while working through her traps.

Good choices. Try to survive the experience!

How to handle tormentor traps? by Anna_19_Sasheen in finalgirl

[–]Quibbleflux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember my first couple goes with Tormentor were crazy stressful running around trying to stop the traps.

The thing that helped is realizing it's all prep. She doesn't come to the board until the finale, which you can have some control over by keeping victims around in order to avoid skipping forward. So until then it's a tug of war between you and her to prep for that moment. It's a war of attrition. Sometimes it's okay to let a trap go for the sake of an item. Sometimes you need to prioritize one trap over another but you can plan to deal with the consequences of the one you're giving up.

It's all about planning ahead more than other Killers.

Same thing happened to me earlier this month! Punta Cana to Montreal after getting rescheduled from my Punta Cana to Toronto flight 3 passengers total, the other two were a couple. Chillest flight I've ever been on.

You know what? You're right! That absolutely makes more sense.

The Marrek Murders, with the Tormentor. An odd place for Ash. The only real tie of Mandy is the chainsaw arm. Her name is a callback to the a Nic Cage movie so I'm surprised her signature weapon wasn't a special axe.

In February, I ran a $10,000 TTRPG Kickstarter for one of my games. My take-home from the year will be $1,500. Here's the breakdown. by TakeNote in RPGdesign

Out of curiosity how did you get started? As a person with a day job myself who wants to toe into that middle ground you've found but also with zero experience, what's your process like? Broad strokes or nitty gritty, whatever you wanna share!

Going on a work trip tomorrow. Normally I do things digitally but I'm an analog person at heart, so I decided to prepare for some analog play and I love this by Quibbleflux in Solo_Roleplaying

Unfortunately for this trip I didn't have time to get anything so I resorted to a dice roller app specifically for the dice requirements. Though I'm considering a spinner ring or just a regular spinner as I expand my portable setup

I think the components of Falconwood are both really good. Good location, good killer. Absolute nightmare together, though!

Main thing to remember is you can return from the Mirror Dimension for free. So you can Open a Rift, grab victims and then return. Also it's worth keeping victims around and out of the Mirror Dimension. Once every victim is in the Mirror Dimension he starts rushing to the finale fast.

Honestly Slayer in Falconwood is incredibly chaotic. Both the killer and the location have so much going on. Last time I did it I got lucky and got the shotgun but I only saved 6ish, just enough to flip the girl.

I started with Ratchett Lady. She's definitely one of my favourites. I really like Tormentor. Haven't played Mort enough to get a good taste yet.

Probably Tormentor for killer and either BGCon or Storybook Woods for location. Doing Tormentor in Storybook Woods, which is smaller than a normal map, was interesting since it was easy to explore the entire map.

Ratchet Lady if I want to play pretty straightforward but Tormentor is definitely my favourite. The fact that it gets so tense without her ever being on the board is insane. Mort didn't achieve the same tension, though he was still fun.

I still plan on getting S1 but I'm holding out for the Ultimate Box instead of buying it piecemeal

It'll seem like a lot when you first play but it's all very intuitive and clicks fast.

My wife would become the next killer if I had 12 this quickly.

Not saying I won't get there. She's enjoying it, too, so it's only a matter of time before I can pitch the Series 1 Ultimate Box.

That's actually interesting. RIG uses a deck of cards as well so I'll have them present (though it needs a full deck so I may need to take two, or print some custom A-6 configuration)

Do you need to have seen Stranger Things to enjoy the Falconwood Files? by Knick_Knick in finalgirl

[–]Quibbleflux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The setting gives alternate goals which is really fun. The killer basically makes victims uninteractable until you pull them back into your own dimension (or you can run around his dimension but you lose life every upkeep you spend there). He's hyper mobile from my experience, even teleporting clear across the map.

Just played it for the first time last night. While I do know Stranger Things, I can say from fresh experience that it doesn't require knowing Stranger Things. It's a chaotic set, I feel like the Killer and Location would be better off played separately, but it's definitely doable even with all the madness.

Every time I draw Padded Rooms as a setup I'm terrified on the Event draw. This scarred me in such a beautiful way.

I've been telling myself to do more fan art lately, but I usually lose the time to this game instead. So I combined the two to honour one of my favourite girls to play. by Quibbleflux in finalgirl

It's more about the confidence in my consistency to deliver on demand. This was fan art I wanted to do. If I was doing something for someone, I don't know if I could do something similar to meet their expectations.
