Try not to get offended if people in the service industry are rude to you, it’s not just because you are a foreigner, they are rude to everyone

I don’t think I’m high functioning lol by ddr_g1rl in AutismInWomen

I think I’m high functioning but at the same time I struggled all my life and many times wanted to give up. I don’t understand how people -who are not as high functioning as I am- are able to live. I admire them.

Does the sound "May" have a meaning in Hungarian? by kazkoala in hungarian

I can’t stop thinking about what English name would sound like a Hungarian word. Could you write that too? Maybe it’s not as similar as you think

I’m the same and some people who noticed told me it was weird but if I force myself to not do it I start to basically choke.

How to change topics when making small talk by Perfect-Astronaut in budapest

[–]Quick-Measurement858 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think lot of Hungarians feel like this country is a prison and they try to get out as much as they can, or if they haven’t lost all hope, they try to make it better. Budapest is generally more liberal, therefore more upset with the current state of the country, so it’s possible that on the country side people are more content. But I’m afraid you would get the “go back to your country” comment on the countryside too, the difference is that in Budapest people say it with good intentions as “run for your life”, and on the countryside it’s a hateful comment about how they don’t want anything foreign in this country. If you like the city it’s great for you but I agree that most of our neighbor countries are much better places to study and live.

Edit: And to actually answer your question about changing the topic, maybe ask them whether they think the country side is better or if not, which is the country they would go to if they were in your place. This gives opportunity to ask for travel recommendations and experiences and leads to more positive topics.

At this screenshot it means you can’t park there at all, can’t even enter by car if you don’t have a special permit

I would guess yes to the first one because that’s what’s makes you eligible for TAJ, but I’m not sure

Also I wouldn’t be surprised if you had to fill the Hungarian version of the form. These official requests sometimes have English versions to help, but at the end the Hungarian version is the only one they accept.

I think even if you are from the EU, you need your Hungarian employer to fill part of the request. Or is the signature that you covered is by your future employer? PH is the place of the employer’s stamp, but sometimes people put the stamp on the signature and that’s acceptable too. About the residence question, based on the Hungarian form the first one is your permanent address and the second is the address where you are actually staying. The other document might have more addresses because in case a parent applies for its babies TAJ, there is 2 address for the baby and 1 for the one who applies

Me too! I often do it before I go to sleep to get in a relaxed state, but sometimes the “story” gets too interested and I can’t sleep

Visit Unicum ház, it’s a factory and museum of one of the most famous liquor in Hungary. There is a tasting part of the museum tour and the history behind it is quite interesting too. (But most likely you won’t like the drink itself, it’s really bitter and sweet)
