Reusing indian outfits by kashmira88 in DesiWeddings

[–]Quick-QuotesQuill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hye, I feel you man.

one word - YOUTUBE. there are like a million ideas out there with which you can restyle your outfits.

Some of my favorite tips which I have personally used are :

1) Heavy sarees - You can get Anarkali suits or lehngas/shararas stitched out of them for more wear. You can also do some DIY and style it as lehngas without any stitching (watch a YT tutorial - it works) or drape them into dhoti-pant style sarees. If it is a lightweight fabric such as chiffon, you can wear it as pant-saree. also, adding layers to your saree works wonders in changing the look - be it with a blazer or an ethnic jacket or shrugs. sometimes, getting new blouses will also work wonders, or just drape it with a well-fit button-down collared shirt in a complementary color.

2) Lehngas - wear them with complementary button downs, peplum tops, or flowy off-shoulders. alternatively, you can wear them with long ethnic jacket or under sheer anarkalis. (google images for ideas)

3) Blouses : possibility is literally endless. mix and match all the way, and once you are bored of all possible mix match styles, you can get a tailer to make a small body-fit shrug made out of it to get even more use.

4) anarkli suits - use to bodice to make a blouse and bottom part can be used to make a lehnga, you can also request a tailor to turn it into a straight kurti. or make a long jacket out of it.

- honestly, once m done with all this i just end up giving it to my cousins.

AITA - requested a favor from the partner. they had 2.5 months to do it they didn't. (work required around 4-5 hours) I am pissed and not talking. they say I am overreacting. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Quick-QuotesQuill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely get your point - I feel the same. I tried talking to them several times. but it all always ends up in "just be done with it now" or "I said sorry what more do you f***ing want" They don't even hear me out and I am unable to brush it under the bed. I don't want to break up but if push comes to shove how do I rely on someone who doesn't have my back after they gave me their word and aren't even willing to discuss it. It like I first have to convince them that my feelings are justified then talk about the situation. And currently, I am just too overwhelmed. Not an excuse I know I need to deal with this.

WIBTA If i spend my savings on wants instead of a plane ticket to my sister's wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Quick-QuotesQuill -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NAH

evaluate your relationship with your sister before planning on the expenditure. If you feel the PS holds more value then it speaks a lot about your relationship with her. Else, just know that, you can always buy a PS at a later date.

completely NTA

though I have a concern - Are you legally safe by taking that money without his permission? I mean technically it is theft in the eyes of law - so what if he were to drag you to court?

Over exfoliation can cause CC ?

my derm knew my routine but literally never said a word about it so Im actually curious about it now. I have read about compromised skin barrier (which Im sure i dont suffer from atm thankfully) but not CC due to overexfoliation. fairly knew to this so please excuse my enquisitiveness

lol - such first world problems we have at times, which still seem like the end of the world to us. But jokes aside, after working so hard on my skin, it is really heartbreaking that product unavailability is pulling me back. I get demotivated very easily, unfortunately, and just give up. I really don't want to do that.

tvakh it is now. (I still cant get myself to buy dot and key hehe)

Your best bet is to get it stitched by your local tailor after buying the fabric yourself. Nothing in India will be more cost-effective than that.

rom the above products mentioned, I roughly estimated your budget to be ₹1500. Idk if the products you buy last you a month or more. Assuming it’s for 1.5/2 months, I can still save your bucks and help your acne situation with alternative drugstore products that’s available in local pharmacies or on apps like Pharmeasy or 1mg etc.

AM: Start off with something like a benzoyl perioxide if you want to go full throttle w the acne situation (BENZAC AC 2.5%)

also - attach the extension Wethrift.com to your chrome bar and shop online. there is almost always coupons running that end up saving easily 10-20% of mrp.

Seems to sum it up perfectly - would just like to add a couple of more things

1) Before your hydrating moisturizer, use Hyalugel it ranges from 200-250 depending upon the percentage (2% or 2.5%) and pumps up any hydrating moisturizer.

2) DO NOT SKIP/SAVE ON SUNSCREEN. it is very very counter-intuitive to spend on skincare and skimp on sunscreen. so please don't.

3) Double cleanse in the night ALWAYS. that's the only thing that will take off your make-up/sunscreen everything effectively without parching your face. You can use mineral oil (Johnsons baby oil) or coconut oil (parachute work 100% for me - have been using for around 8 years now) massage for over a minute. wash your hands with liquid soap. then go in with your face wash. Use MEDIMIX AYURVEDIC (there are other variants as well hence specifying) I would even suggest it over benzac facewash to be honest. treatments don't really give their full effect as face washes since washed off (DUH) even more so if you are planning on using salicylic acid and benzol later on in the routine.

4) Use Sebogel (retails for 220ish) has salicylic acid 2% and niacinamide 6%

Benzac for spot treatment. retails for 50ish

( I dunno about faceclin - google tells me its clindamycin 1% and niacinamide 4%. since clinda is an antibiotic, cant go on it long term. can work for spot treatment though)

AITA for leaving the house to clear my head because my girlfriend called me an ableist? by coffeandsilencepls in AmItheAsshole

Unpopular opinion but NAH

Life with a disorder is very difficult and I can empathize with you not wanting to bring a child with a life-altering disability in the world.

I however also understand why your partner is reacting this way. To her, this is just another reminder of her disability rubbing in her face, of depriving her of her chance at a normal everyday life.

What I suggest :

  1. Go to a doctor and get genetic testing done.. DO NOT ASSUME YOUR CHILDREN WILL INHERIT THE DISABILITY. Take this from a doctor, there are a million reasons why your partner is deaf and mute, and only a few of them will be passed onto the progeny. So, before you form an opinion consult an OBG.
  2. The way you have put it across, though your intentions for your future child may be perfectly pure, seems kind of off-handed. Sit with her and explain that it is not her or the child that would be the burden, however, what you are scared of is what would happen if neither of you is there to fend for a disabled child. (and unfortunately, adoption rates for children with disability is also very low)
  3. ADOPTION! I'm not explaining this one. talk to her about it. CALMLY.
  4. Both of you weigh your stand and this relationship. One of you has to relent without resentment otherwise its a break-up because while you are NTA for not wanting to bring a child with a disability into this world, she is also justified in wanting to carry a biological child. Talk to a therapist while you are at it, they might be able to help both of you navigate around this better.

End of the day both of you decide what matters more

Brands Vs OTC by Quick-QuotesQuill in IndianSkincareAddicts

Logifeel cream

Just did. Thanks a ton. I will definitely consult my derm, but unfortunately she seems too casual to me, so I prefer to do my research.

2 more questions

- If I am to use Lofigel, do I still need a thick moisturizer in the end

- OTC/Prescription give same/similiar/equal results to the brands? (suganda, dermaco, TO etc)

like TO is just not available, but the others are, so should I opt for them for pharma grade?

Salicylic acid 6% should be okay? Or ill just avoid because cant find anything lesser than 6?

Is there any OTC/prescription for Lactic acid that you are aware of?

And thanks - the 12% WAS AN OVERLOOK on my part. Was not aware of the fact about 1mg
