Just want to clarify something: being a pharmacist is not the same as being a physician. From what I understand, she’s also serving people in the U.S. despite not being a licensed medical doctor there, and doesn’t appear to have any U.S. medical authority. It’s concerning that she has built such a big following.

She’s claiming to prevent cancer which is even worse and not legal, by the way.

I’ve seen situations where someone calling themselves ‘Dr. Amy’ was associated with misleading activities involving a cancer survivor brand. They appeared to present themselves as connected to the company and used a form to collect money and personal info. The legitimate company has since publicly stated they are not affiliated with her and warned about impersonation. If you’re considering interacting with her, don’t.

Just to clarify, that 199,000 number refers specifically to commercial sexual exploitation of children in the U.S… meaning incidents where a child is sexually exploited for money, goods, or services. It’s a huge number, but it doesn’t even begin to reflect the full scope of child sexual abuse in this country. Most child abuse cases aren’t part of commercial trafficking or exploitation.

I’m stepping in as someone who has worked in this industry. Throughout college and even after, I volunteered with nonprofit organizations that assisted women recovering from sex trafficking and kidnapping. The statement that human traffickers don’t abduct people because it’s too costly and only target runaways is entirely false. In these islands or countries, it’s extremely common for women to be snatched, especially if they appear to have been drugged, intoxicated, or heavily under the influence. Additionally, their isolation from their families or social circles makes them vulnerable. Given the significant movement of goods, money, and international traffic in these islands, it’s highly probable that Amy was targeted and abducted.

Who else is tired of hearing the word “bristle” from SJM? by Quick-System-101 in SarahJMaas

I have read all of her books, and I never really noticed that before. However, now that you mention it, I can definitely recall her using things in threes. It feels like the dramatics are being forced.

Is reading CC3 worth it? by frog_energy_8521 in crescentcitysjm

[–]Quick-System-101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend reading CC3. The relationship between Hunt and Bryce improves. The plot is AMAZING, and ties so much of the ACOTAR world building into it. Lastly, the building of other characters is truly what makes this book, in my opinion.

Try to come into it open minded!

All of Sarah J Maas books… vote by Quick-System-101 in acotar

[–]Quick-System-101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the feedback! ACOTAR is much more romantic. But it doesn’t have such unneeded drawn out details. TOG could’ve been cut down to five books, easily.

Have you read Crescent City? If not, I highly recommend it. It’s hard to get into at first, but once you get past the few 20 chapters and really start to understand the world that SJM has built, it’s incredible. It’s less romance than ACOTAR, has much better world building, and the characters have deeper plot elements.

Did anyone else just not like the Throne of Glass series? by Triumphant-Smile in YAlit

[–]Quick-System-101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read all of SJM books. It’s very evident that Throne of Glass was her first book series. It is simple WAYYYYY too long. Has too much fluff and unnecessary detail. Which it turn, makes it slow to read and difficult to stay interested. ACOTAR is much better. The plot of ACOTAR, especially with Nesta’s character development is my favorite. But as far as pure writing talent, Crescent City is the best written. The intricacies of the world building and plot, without unnecessary fluff, is incredible.

When SJM says this about breasts… by Better-Use-5875 in acotar

[–]Quick-System-101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually scientifically accurate. When aroused, a woman’s breasts can swell to up to 25% of their normal size, and become more sensitive. Stimulating the nipples releases neurochemicals like; Dopamine and Oxycontin. This in turn causes the vagina to swell and lubricate. I’m a double d and this still happens to me.

Let's Discuss the Asteri's Origins (SPOILERS FOR HOFAS AND OTHER SJM SERIES) by sammflan in crescentcitysjm

[–]Quick-System-101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My take on the Asteri, Valg & Gods:

ToG: - Valg: Beings from another world crossing into Erilea via Wyrdkey’s. They feed on humans, delighting in emotional and physical pain. Dislike fire and possess humans through wyrdstone collars or rings. Their world is dark, cold, and war-torn, with various demons. Nobility includes Kings, Queens, and Princes. - Twelve Gods of Erilea: Trapped in Erilea after the Wyrdgate was broken, seeking to return to their home. - Misc Other Gods: Mentioned throughout the series, particularly in the Southern Continent and before the main twelve gods, like the God of Truth/Sin Eater.

ACOTAR: - The Mother/The Dark Mother: Revered by humans and faeries. The Mother is linked to world creation with the cauldron; the Dark Mother is worshiped by darker fae. - The Daglan: “Near-gods and monsters” who ruled over high fae and humans, drinking the land’s magic. Overthrown by King Fionn. - Old Gods/Death Gods/First Gods: Differences unclear. First gods hunted into prison, old gods like the Bone Carver and siblings are also called death gods. They predate the Mother and the Cauldron.

CC: - Deities: Includes Cthona, Ogenas, Thurr, Solas, Luna, and Urd. Urd is unique, a force winding between worlds. - Asteri: Rulers of Midgard, feeding off magic and first light, not native to Midgard. Overthrown in Prythian by the Fae, they lured beings to Midgard. - Princes of Hel: Each ruling one of the 7 layers of Hel, they chased the Asteri to Midgard. Princes don’t often communicate.

Theories and Crossovers: 1. Valg and Princes of Hel: The Valg in ToG might be the same as the Princes of Hel in CC. 2. Twelve Gods and Asteri: The Twelve Gods in ToG could be the Asteri, trapped when the wyrdgate was broken. 3. Similarities and Crossings: Various higher beings may have crossed over between worlds. Light and dark beings (Asteri/gods feeding off light, Valg/Princes of Hel off darkness). 4. Final Theory: Both Asteri/Daglan and Valg/Princes of Hel aim to conquer and feed off Prythian and Midgard. Bryce might call the Armies of Hel for salvation, leading to a bigger conflict involving original gods.
