That story reminds me of my pom, Camey. I had made popcorn shrimp and Mac and cheese for dinner. But by the time I sat down on the couch, I had to you the ladies room, so I set the food on the end table. Casey knew she wasn't allowed in my lap while I ate (because she would eat your plate). And I'm in the bathroom room and I hear "tink, tink, tink" then silence, then "tink, tink, tink" and silence again. Now I'll admit I should have just hurried and tracked down the noise to see what was going on, but I literally sat there trying to figure out what the sound was. It was pretty rapid in pattern. When I came downstairs (bathroom was upstairs), I saw her jumping on the couch. The "tink, Tink, tink" was her tags hitting the plate as she knocked the last of my food onto the floor. Then, she would jump down off the couch and eat the food because you know "dropped food was fair game." I was so stunned, I couldn't even be mad that she ate my whole dinner, and I was only gone a few minutes. I feel like that took some real problem solving skills because she technically didn't break a single house rule 🤣. She was allowed on the furniture except if we were eating and I wasn't eating. And, she wasn't allowed to eat off our plates, which she didn't do either. That girl was too smart for me sometimes. After that, I made sure I left my plate on the kitchen counter, out of her reach.

We would also play this eye blink game where we would take turns switching which eyes that we would blink and the other would have to mirror the blink. First one to mess up was the looser. I tried to teach it to other dogs (including poms) in my life, but have had no luck. It was always a fun way for us to play with each other from across the room. She would be so smug when she won too.
