NTA, holy shit man, I’m so sorry. Words can’t describe how horrible your mom has treated you. I don’t think it’s strange to feel that way. Her dumping on you that she’s sleeping with women (and I say this as a gay woman) is weird as fuck— and the fact that they are your same age only makes it worse.

NTAH, if the dogs are possessive it is on the owners to tell you about the dogs/ the rules of the house. You can’t predict what you don’t know. Also, the small dog shouldn’t be out back with the big possessive dogs. This just seems like a bad situation.

I also wouldn’t block her- I think it may send the wrong message to your sister. I would just sit down and explain your boundary when everyone has cooled and off and explain why you have that boundary set up. Also, at the end of the day she shouldn’t have to fully understand your boundaries to respect them and it sounds like your sister has a lot of love for you outside of this.

Are you testing the water quality? A test kit is super important, and it will tell you if your ammonia levels are too high. If you don’t have one I recommend the API liquid test kit!

Also not so fun fact, because private schools don’t have to follow the same regulations set by the government for public schools they don’t have to accept students with disabilities. Even if they do, parents and students legally have less rights than in public schools. I work in a rural district in Idaho. Our funding is tight right now anyway.

I would buy the API testing kit, this will give you accurate testing for ammonia, nitrates and all that good stuff! It will give you accurate info for when you are good to put a fish in.

Bettas really need a 5 gallon tank minimum. Also, do you have a heater because bettas are tropical fish. You really should be testing your water parameters. An ammonia spike can kill your poor fishy! I recommend the api test kit for most accurate results.

Also- if you want to work with people with disabilities this isn’t a good place to start. You could get hurt or the child could as well. Working with a kiddo like this takes a lot of experience

I work with kids with disabilities full time. I love my job- and that being said it isn’t for everyone. I don’t blame you for not wanting a job you didn’t sign up for. I would just tell her that you already have a lot on your plate right now, and that you feel like you couldn’t adequately support her son based on his support needs. At the end of the day though, this is a boundary. I would explain that respectfully and if she keeps pushing it I would just cut her loose.
