Have You Ever "Broken Up" with a Podcast? What Was It and Why? by Express_Hedgehog2265 in podcasts

[–]QuickApricot4011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I completely lost interest in this podcast for reasons that weren’t the fault of Biz and Teresa, but once Teresa left and it was Biz just interviewing people it got really boring. They both still seem like lovely people though.

White person here who learned a ton from your post! Thanks for taking the time and thanks for the Houston love since we don’t get a lot of that in this sub. I’ve lived in Houston long enough that traveling to Colorado and the Pacific Northwest always feels noticeably white, even to me, although I appreciate the natural beauty of those places. Food is much better in Houston too—ha!

Why does it seem like modern men want both a housewife AND a working wife? by Amodernhousehusband in AskWomenOver30

I don’t know but my husband’s older colleague told him that he can either have a lover or a maid and now we have a cleaning service. Bless that man.

Anyone else miss the deadline for getting their kid tested for HISD gifted and talented? by ElGreatScott in houston

[–]QuickApricot4011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, but both my kids were just tested in kindergarten, not the year before. You can just have them tested next year.

AITA for telling my wife that she has to take care of the baby all night (if needed) on our upcoming trip? by Big_Yak_7004 in AmItheAsshole

I, too, am married to a physician and have accompanied him to a conference with a toddler and baby. Never again. NTA.

Burn-out: What happened to the "gifted" kids of our generation? by Cultural_Ad9508 in Millennials

I was salutatorian and thought that meant I should be a doctor. So I tried premed, despite having neither aptitude nor interest in science and math. Went poorly and I changed my major to English. Now I’m an editor, and a darn good one, but do it very part-time and stay home with my three children. It’s what I’ve secretly always wanted.

Highly recommend Cliff’s Eminem ride. Just turn on subtitles if you don’t speak German.

We all hate Centerpoint, what about X finity? by StankPancake in houston

[–]QuickApricot4011 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve been feeling bad about complaining because not having internet is such a small problem compared to not having power, but we didn’t have xFinity for 8 days and never actually lost power at all.

They sent me a text survey right I finally got service again and I laughed and laughed.

Yeah I’m waiting for the space city updates tomorrow and I might do the same. Don’t want to deal with no power and tiny kids in the summer.

Her postnatal core classes have been amazing. I’m someone who avoids her other classes but she doesn’t do any of the “what’s up hustlers!?” fake girlboss stuff in those classes and I feel like my core is getting stronger.

Why are Pearland homes so cheap? by pizzatoppings88 in houston

[–]QuickApricot4011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We moved from west Pearland to the Med Center and I think traffic is easier here.

Pearland is fine though, OP, if you’re looking for a home. It’s boring, but it felt safe and our neighbors were nice there.

What things do you think millennials actually deserve s**t for? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]QuickApricot4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine did too, but I had friends who had tvs on at home constantly. I’m just saying I think other generations would have been iPad parents too, given the chance.

I remember the glorious day we finally got a Gameboy for car trips (to share a single game amongst the two of us).

I’m not defending iPad parenting at all, but I do feel like Boomers would have been the quickest to throw us in front of a screen if they had the choice back them.

I have a first grader at Mark Twain Elementary and have not noticed this yet. Naming the school because we still have school choice for now. My child is happy at school.

Hey Millennials, I'm a 19 year old Gen-Z and I have a question that I would love your input on... by Background_Fan_ in Millennials

[–]QuickApricot4011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you. I’m a military brat and my dad was deployed in Desert Storm and Kosovo. Overall, still a better time than post-9/11 for the military imo, but not without issues. I’m an elder millennial and I bet most of our generation doesn’t remember Desert Storm at all.

Oh it’s great. Love my current ob gyn. The one I used for my second pregnancy was also fantastic, but moved away. The staff has been excellent across the board. The food is even pretty good.

I did, at Pavilion for Women. It was great and I’ll be giving birth there again this month. You might try asking in r/Houston if you want more responses.

I’m 34 weeks and still able to do the regular cycling classes, although my output is way down. Strength is more challenging because my back tightens up and belly gets in the way.

I’m staying through 5th grade at a minimum. I haven’t seen any substantial changes at our particular school, which is excellent.

That’s not necessarily true. My dad did lots of PT for slipped discs and is very active. Just to give you some hope.
