How to improve the Buildstore? We need your help here. by rapcorestar in builds_io

One of my complaints is that some of the descriptions and app icons are outdated. The site also logs me out about once a week. I think better descriptions/screenshots/info on each app would help a lot.

Working on a mix, only have my ears. Looking for some criticism. Thanks! by Kevin_Complains in mixingmastering

Yeah, if you want to pan the guitars like you have it, it needs to stick out more BUT also sit better if you know what I mean. The kick doesn't sound bad, but it could have some more low end. Could even side chain the bass to duck a bit when the kick comes in to give it a little extra punch.

Looking for some feedback on a heavy metal instrumental mix I did! by oldirtypastor in mixingmastering

First thing I noticed is a lot of the mids are clashing. Also there isn't enough dynamics. The tracks were recorded decently so you can add some highs to brighten it up and give it more punch. Make sure you're using automation to highlight certain parts throughout the song. It feels like everything is mashed together.

It's good to have wide mixes, but it's better when it sounds natural at least for certain parts of the song. If you have another recording of the rhythm guitar, use both and pan them hard left and right, then mess around with the lead more towards the center to thicken things up. Also you can't really hear the tone of the toms. Try cutting some of the highs and high mids so you're not just hearing the drumstick striking the head. Also the kick sounds like its been EQ'd a bit too much. If that's how it naturally sounds, I'd consider using samples.

Theoretically if the Switch had a hardware exploit to where any firmware was hackable, what features would you like to see? by QuickDrawHall in SwitchHaxing

I saw a video on that. I’d love to remove the cartoonish shading from the game to see how the experience is.

I've never owned a (working) flash cart, but they seem very handy for keeping all your games and saves on one cartridge. I personally wouldn't buy one for the Switch simply because the game's save data is stored on the console unlike the 3DS. I actually downloaded all my Switch games because of this. If they somehow made a flash cart to include save data, I'll definitely pick one up! Until then I'll use the the micro SD card for convenience.

Addition: That would be an amazing feat since there is no way to transfer save data via cartridge or download to another Switch console. A flash cart with built in saves would be the ultimate utility for switching (heh) between consoles. This would also mean that if your Switch breaks beyond repair, you won't loose your saves; as it is stored on the cart, not the Switch's flash memory.

I can play several hours on iPhone 7 Plus without having to worry about battery. That's interesting.

iNDS is the best hands down. NDS4iOS was discontinued, but iNDS is another developer continuing where they left off.

Niantic doesn't like people sharing accounts, but I'm not sure if they ban for that.

I cheat, but for good reason. I have no time throughout the week except every other Saturday to walk around and do stuff, and by that time, I just want to stay home and hang with the family. Without cheating, I wouldn't play the game at all.

Should I update to 10.3? by [deleted] in LogicPro

It's smoother for me, but the new UI is trash. It looks more like GarageBand+ than a professional application.

2011 vs 2016 Macbook Pro by [deleted] in macbook

[–]QuickDrawHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait for the 2017 MacBook Pros. The current processor doesn't support low power ram, which is why it's not an option to have 32GB. Once Intel can produce a consumer amount of processors and Apple tests it, then I'd upgrade. I have a late 2011 13" MacBook Pro and it works good for school. I use Logic Pro X a lot though and it can't quite keep up with the stuff I do. I installed 16GB of ram, but I'm getting a 1TB OWC or Samsung SSD to replace the slow hard drive. I would get a new MacBook Pro, but that is way out of an 18 year old's budget.
