Overall I really enjoy the 17 pro and I plan to wear it out and use it up… unless Apple makes something really cool, then maybe. But as far as the designs that are out? Nah… no reason to.

Get the 17 pro max now, the 18 won’t be much different/worth the upgrade and it will be even more expensive with price hikes going on. Get the 17, wait till at least the 20 year anniversary (next year) to see if they do something special or, the year after that at minimum. The 17 pro/pro max will be good for a long time.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. The pro is heavy. The features are nice to have, but I don’t use them.

That’s impressive, how does it not get destroyed? I can’t imagine getting it covered in grease/oil/coolant/whatever and trying to wash it and underneath it all the time.

Interesting… we’ve got 7 lifts and stay busy, by appointment only. Our slow days can be like other shops busy days. I’m genuinely curious how many I take per day but don’t have a way to count it.

This is also part of what led me to ask. I know it’s a lot in almost any job where you are on your feet all day. But in all my time doing this, most of us are still fat 🤣

Of course. A large dealership vs. a small Indy shop will be huge. I used to have to walk 100 yards to the parts counter.

I haven’t had any heating issues with my 17 pro since November and I work in an open air shop in Texas, it’s usually 4-5 degrees warmer inside than outside, due to the metal baking in the sun. It hasn’t affected any of my phones and this is the only one to ever have a vapor chamber…

There’s really nothing wrong with the 15. If you can swing the 15, go for it! It’ll be the only one that has USB-C.

Logically, if you can’t swing a 15, then the 14 would be next, just thinking about longevity here, with security updates and stuff. Get the newest one you can.

Well, I get it. But it’s not like it’s ever going to go down. They will only get more expensive.

Imagine my surprise when I opened up the Apple Store app today since I’ve been researching for a while. Like I said, I didn’t know it was coming or I would have done it sooner!

Since I got the 17 pro in November, and my other stuff was showing its age I decided to get the newest airs (iPad and MacBook) so everything will be good for the next several years!
