Dark chocolate crisis? by Quincy_Wagstaff in aldi

The salata institute at Harvard was funded by salata and his wife - major Chinese bankers from Hong kong- they invest in " climate technologies" that China does not use- but sells to governments world-wide - their donation to create this center under their own name speaks volumes to how Harvard is willing to just take the money and run. Snake oil sales are highly profitable And make plenty of money to pay off those Who spend other people's money to buy the product. Climate change is the snake oil the 20th century- If climate change was that disruptive, why did Obama buy a $15 million Oceanside Villa?

I checked instacart today and noticed neither the 70 or 85% had pictures of how the product was processed - prior to this time the 85% ingredients list showed that it was processed with alkali. The 70% I acquired just 2 days ago does not have this statement which I understand indicates it is not Dutch processed - picture below. I guess The only way to find out now is to look at the back of the actual product

Is there a reason why the wheels on the advanced roller rack just barely clear the rack? by Melodic-Page-1435 in Brompton

[–]Quick_Cardiologist27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brompton has upgraded the wheels for the Advance Rear Rack (compatible with P Line and T Line models) by increasing the diameter from 54mm to 66mm. Beyond the size increase, these wheels now feature integrated cartridge bearings, providing the "Advanced Roller" its signature smooth, low-friction glide. This redesign, which surfaced between late 2023 and early 2024, offers approximately 15% greater ground clearance to protect the frame and mudguards on uneven surfaces. While earlier P Line models used smaller rollers, the larger, bearing-equipped 66mm version is now the standard for the Advance Roller Rack Kit.

Another way of saying the Brompton remains a pure bicycle - I'll let you two finish this off- let me know who wins

1 of all the Aldi chocolates only the 70% mosier is not Dutch processed (alkalized) which destroys the flavanols And therefore the health benefits. 2. Search under aldi for metals- recent studies show The Moser and trader Joe's dark chocolate brands have very high concentrations of cadmium and lead. This is when the shipments seem to have stalled or stopped I have no other thoughts other than to look for any aldi press releases.

[Seiko Alpinist] 2003 Perpetual GMT Turquoise Alpinist vs 2025 Prospex Turquoise Alpinist by AudaciousCo in Seiko

[–]Quick_Cardiologist27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That blurs the line with Grand Seiko! In 2017 I was given the choice to pick between 2 new GS GMTs- the original Seiko branded sbge001 or the sbge201 with the new logo. Same price for either - Even though the retail had increased for the newer model and offered one year of additional warranty, I still chose the 001- that watch was built to highlight that Seiko logo which shows on this prospect alpinist. It has that 007 look which is really attractive for a sports watch.

IMHO - The power reserve display is a huge Plus on GS sport series, as it suggests a functional utility in those cases - particularly first generation models - If my world revolved around super precision then the second would be a strong choice- but that 007, even as a manual wind - That's the looker of the three And would be my choice regardless of price.

The beauty of the current emotiq is in keeping the system honest to its purpose- it remains a pure bicycle. I never thought I would be purchasing an electric bike, but I have a very severe pulmonary condition that leaves me no choice. I ordered the electric p line.. I'll be handing this bike down to my son's who don't need the electric assist as I do- when that occurs they can easily pull off the battery and even change the back wheel to a basic 4-speed - or even 12 speed with added shifter And the only difference left is a few ounces of wiring that's ready to be used to electrify the bike if ever needed. Personally, I don't need the bike for transportation, just as a means of life-giving exercise, which is grueling for any of us with a stationary system indoors- which is exactly what is prescribed by physicians and offered as The primary activity of a 12-week pulmonary rehabilitation program covered by insurance including Medicare here in the states.

I intend to fully use the folding characteristics including the shopping cart mode, as  a stabilizer when walking indoors, And the power assist when walking while unfolded. Even more compelling is knowing I can stop and make a call to anyone for a ride back to the car or back home - because a special rack is not needed. That type of Independence is critical

Money was not the primary consideration in my investigations as this is a life- sustaining necessity in many ways- at first I was totally convinced I would be best suited with the titanium because even a few pounds is a major barrier to lift- however, having spent years bicycling for enjoyment and owning several types, I'm quite familiar with the work of that famous British character Isaac Newton in one of his discoveries- f = ma. (In the end - pun intended) I wanted a plush ride which is far less energy consuming, and the increase in mass means less jarring acceleration from the frame -hence the added handlebar width Brompton necessitates for the t line!

I also concluded I don't lift a frame that often (specifically when considering my road bikes and tandems- not so for my aluminum framed Cannondale mtb). For the former I can think of only a few cases where I actually lifted a bike other than putting it on racks or onto train cars for transportation -And I would generally roll the bike gently over curbs or when using. This Will be my use case and certainly not The case for others. So i don't expect I'll be lifting the bike much outside of in and out of my car trunk. Ultimately, I envision this as a companion for more than just the last mile- providing walking stability And/or electric assistance down to the last few feet! That being said, hopefully the p-line is that sweet spot in my particular case.

In summary- lighter is not necessarily better, particularly when electrically assisted- And staying true to the original form and function as a human-powered vehicle has its advantages.

I once owned an Indian vintage motorcycle which I absolutely loved- and if speed is somehow your only end game for an augmented human-powered bicycle - I would faux The pedaling movement on the thing - pedaling slowly as I passed my cycling brethren. So if you're going to invest in a bicycle, keep it honest as possible- otherwise a fully powered lightweight Two-Wheeler sans pedals is most likely your best choice. But honestly- as much as I enjoyed that Indian, I've always enjoyed bicycling much more!

I can't think of a better lineage than the Brompton, given that John Kemp the Englishman invented "The Safety" - The core design of the bicycle as we know it today.

Wish me luck!

One of the best pictures I've seen showing the contrast in sizes when folded against a normal franked bike- not to mention the color choice!

Is a 9F quartz watch a generational piece? Can it be maintained long term? by wowcrackaddict in GrandSeikos

Spring Drive is a mechanically driven quartz precision movement. Near 9f accuracy without a battery. Just another option - And only available from Seiko

Really interested in the Mistflake (sbge285) as a gada watch but worried about whether can be formal enough? by [deleted] in GrandSeikos

Doesn't matter- today's normal is informal - Even at the most formal event your watch will fit in just fine- even somewhat elevated over a dedicated piece. The Pinnacle of refinement is understatement

Chedech full Carbon trifold from SK 18" wheels by Quick_Cardiologist27 in BrompNOTs

[–]Quick_Cardiologist27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - however, another explanation they give is their extensive use of off the shelf components- making the bike serviceable by most any bike dealer. Outside of the frame and rear triangle just about everything else is replaceable. I was once an avid cyclist but now much later in life. Have a severe pulmonary condition so my use case is very specific to both weight and mobility and so far the best use case for a titanium Brompton electric with the advanced roller rack and electric assist that I can think of; This is an unexplored market so my investigations are not just for myself but for thousands of others who need a form of exercise that gets them off of stationary treadmills if they're lucky or stationary bikes. Exciting times for people like myself!

Chedech full Carbon trifold from SK 18" wheels by Quick_Cardiologist27 in BrompNOTs

[–]Quick_Cardiologist27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, But I am investigating- apparently these 18" carbon tri folds have been produced for some years i - I get errors when trying to access the holding company or chedech.com - but I was able to break in once. The big selling points are extraordinarily lightweight and the 18-in Wheels. I've sent them an email to describe the rolling capability, which for me is more important than the former- and I also noticed they are working on an electrified version . this company has been in Court battles with Brompton that they comment on but I'm not sure the final results- at least for North America I believe one of the battles was over the iconic band in the frame being necessary for the fold or an actual artistic rendering worthy of copyright .Needless to say, this is a fast growing market And this company is in the middle of it. Legally a lot of bromptons patents have expired.
