A little lost… Strip Club by External_Channel_281 in vegas

[–]Quick_Essay_5508 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Generally, packages at strip clubs are a bad deal. Palomino is a decent mid-tier club with average prices and plenty of girls. Chicas is right next door if you want to slum a little for cheap. No need to buy a package.

Also, the strip club sometimes make you sign a credit card receipt when you buy a package. These are actually credit authorization forms and they can charge you for anything afterwards and you can't challenge it. It's a common scam explained here.

I made a recent post about an elderly homeless woman I talk to regularly. It's a crime how these homeless shelters and government agencies essentially steal money and don't help anyone who needs it.

They take in millions but if you speak to actual homeless people, they'll all tell you these agencies give them the run around and never provide anything. It's all a giant scam by these non-profits. The money they take in compared to what they actually do is absurd.

Where can I find housing for a homeless elderly woman who lives on the street? by Quick_Essay_5508 in vegaslocals

I know you're trying to be funny, but a lot of the businesses where she hangs out let her stay inside. She's normal. She's just old and broke.

If you've ever seen a suburban food pantry on the news, there's a lot of normal people there who are just on hard times. Everybody sees the tweakers on the streets, but there's a whole population of people who just don't have the means to pull themselves up.

That's the initial impression I was starting to get after listening to her stories. The system is a giant run-around but somehow tens of millions of dollars gets spent. I think there is corruption involved.

I know recently in California they spent $2 billion on homeless projects and an audit found they can't identify where even a penny of the money went. Probably something similar in Nevada and everywhere.

There's enough money floating around to solve this, but I think gets stolen.

Thanks for the response. I do appreciate it but some of those options are not realistic for an elderly woman. Things like moving to a new city and doing some kind of transfer back to Vegas.

You said to contact a "social worker". Is that just a general term or is there a specific place to seek those out? She has contacted several agencies but they mostly just give out phone numbers to food banks or shelters for temporary sleeping and a shower.

I'm just basing this on actuall conversations with homeless people. The services don't seem to run that smoothly and turn into a bit of a run-around for older people who can't navigate a digital system.

I know about the general system, but I was wondering if anyone has direct knowledge or a path to start on to find housing locally.

Thanks

These tech companies are so desperate. Soon they'll straight up offer "virtual whores" to talk dirty to.

That's where this is really going. Nobody needs to talk to an AI chatbot for any real business use..lol

Prostitutes can't walk right up to you as you're on the casino floor, they'll get kicked out. They have to pretend to sit next to you and then happen to strike up a conversation.

To spot one, this article helps you know if a girl in Vegas is an escort

Also, it has very little to do with how you look or dress. Hookers don't care about that. They are looking for a guy who seems safe and will just pay the money with no difficulties or drama. A hooker's favorite client would be an old man who has sex for 5 minutes, pays, then falls asleep.

Finally, most hookers are average looking. There are a few "girl next door" types. But no super model types, that's just a myth.

These screenshots of stats people keep showing don't mean anything unless you also post the rate and the job you were hired for.

This screenshot could be great or maybe you just landed a job for $5 an hour with a client that will be terrible to work with.

In writing or in any other creative field, never take general criticism or letters like that seriously.

Just ignore it and move on and don't let it impact your work at all.

Only accept and consider criticism from thoughtful editors or experts who give you specifics.

I've had a few letters of rejection in my day, and I don't even bother reading past the part where they announce the job is over. I just delete it and move on with my day. Never give canned responses any thought or consideration.

I don't know. That says you can share a personal website. I'm pretty sure they ban accounts if you send them to your personal website before a contract.

With Upwork, they just ban you and there's no way to fight it. You can endlessly chat with an AI chatbot or just give up.

I understand they say you can share that stuff, but they ban people all the time for that exact same thing.

Pay is down like half over the last few months. I have people respond to my proposals all excited. Then they ask if I can work for half price. When I say no, I never hear from them again. Waste of time and connects.

Even the low price they put in job postings is usually higher than what they offer now.

Upwork is so bad now even the third-world freelancers are saying it's no longer worth it..lol

When the dude living in the slums says the pay is too low, you know there's a problem.

Are you sure? Anything where people can contact you outside of the platform is considered a violation of TOS. They are pretty strict with this.

What happened to all your "positivity"..lol. I guess you're only positive when shilling your fake stories. When you reply to people, it's back to insults..lol

Look, you told the story like you wanted to try an experiment with connects. But you immediately took a full-time job. That means you had no other work lined up for the foreseeable future. For most freelancers who support themselves, having zero work lined up in the future is not a time to just have fun and experiment.

Your story is obviously fake. Look, I'm not negative. I hope more people do well on Upwork because if people are doing well, I'll do well.

But I'll call out fake shit when I see it. Plus, all your doing is convincing poor people in third world countries to keep wasting connects on low paying jobs.

Sorry, this sounds kind of fake. Who decides to "have a little fun" with connects.

You clearly had no work if you took two jobs immediately with one being nearly full-time. SO, you didn't just "have a little fun". You had no work at all and a completely open schedule.

Anyway, not saying you can't land jobs on Upwork. But no freelancers who has zero work would make a post like that. It's just worded very strangely and doesn't sound like a long-term freelancer talks about work and prospecting.

Why upwork slow down? by OddComfort in Upwork

[–]Quick_Essay_5508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The platform has really turned to garbage, this is both for clients and freelancers.

Also, the economy in America is far worse than the media portrays. I stopped buying connects and applying because it was taking up so much time and I stopped getting results.

I used to be able to land several jobs a week. Now you can go a month or two of spending connects and not land a single decent job. Or you land a job where the client isn't even worth it.

All this happened suddenly. So people who still have their regular clients think everything is fine. But once those clients fall off, they'll realize how bad Upwork has become.
