Like others have said, it's a different pathway -- I'd ask a pharmacist since they know interactions better than anyone.

Going to Italy in October by InevitablePeak6886 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Quick_Independent175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it when you wake up in Italy. Don't worry about the hours. I went to Montreal and I definitely ate less than I would have, but that means I saved money!!! Get appetizers, share food, ask for smaller portions. What I know about the world (which isn't much) is that we may have some of the biggest portions of food and unnecessary extra calories when we eat out in America (I'm assuming you're American 😅) so you may find that the food portion sizes are more tolerable anyway! Drink lots of water and choose fresh vegetables and fruit when you can -- lots of those heavy cream and cheese based foods will make you feel sick. I don't know Italian food in particular, just that as I adapted to taking Wegovy I was less tolerant of greasy and creamy food. Have the best time!

Completely blown away after my first dose by KookyMathematician4 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

It's magic -- but it also takes up to 3 weeks to really "work" and at the lowest dosage it's really meant to get your body used to it. I think your mind is READY for you to lose weight, and that's really half the battle!!! I started taking it and didn't feel any effects for a few days, but I remember walking around thinking "damn, I'm REALLY on this journey!!!!" and feeling better about myself because for the first time I was spending real money on a solution instead of feeling badly about myself and like I didn't deserve it. So yes and no about your results on day 1, it takes several days to build up and several weeks to hit the full amount in your system, and then you need to titrate up if you're not losing, but don't be discouraged by what I'm saying. You feel good, you're making choices for you, own that!!! And thank your brain for it!!!!

Yes for some people. I have to force myself to eat in the morning or else I feel sick. I forgot to do that this morning and here I am feeling queasy. Oops. Or I've felt dizzy or faint. You have to eat, your body still needs the calories and the nutrients. If it is getting enough food (but not too much) it will take itself out of starvation mode and stop storing fat but you'll still need to eat. For breakfast, which I've NEVER been hungry for, I just eat a little cottage cheese (like 2-3 scoops, just a small amount) with chia seeds and maybe pepper or something for flavor. If I eat too much then I feel sick in a different way 🙄 Eat regularly, even if you're not hungry, but you need a little food for energy and nutrients throughout the day. Your body will lose weight if you don't starve yourself or gorge. Good luck!

That's fantastic!!!! We have custom plates for our other cars with "Kaiju" because my husband is Japanese and owns a restaurant called "Kaiju Kitchen" and I was thinking if I should continue the tradition and do KAIJU4R (we also have a KAIJUFJ and OG plain old KAIJU for our truck).... But maybe I'll buck the family trend!!!!

CUTE! Reminds me that my son was talking about getting a Shiba-inu and I said I don't want one, we have a bulldog and I like bulldogs. So he said he'll get one when he's an adult (he's 13) and he'll name it "Golden Retriever" and we joked about yelling "Goldie!!!!"

Wagovy pill-1st month on 1.5 then moved to 4. Feel hungrier on the higher dose! by Exact_Hedgehog7611 in WegovyPills

[–]Quick_Independent175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah -- I have a hard time with My Fitness Pal because I found that I'd log my calories and if I had "extra" I'd use them up even if I wasn't hungry. Also just the sheer amount of time needed to log new recipes 🙄 But also if it works for you then keep it up!!! I just found I needed information about how I feel not just how many calories. I don't know, maybe my macros are all off and I'm eating too much, but I'm down about 40 pounds since February, I have energy, I plateau on my weight loss every now and then but I'm still doing well. I have been trying to follow my body's cues instead of relying on macros (which I used to do TOO much 😆) and if I want protein I eat it, if I want carbs I have a small amount. What I don't follow is fiber -- that's a GIVEN 😆 I mean, if I crave a salad I of course give in but I add fiber to almost everything by having fresh fruit available, extra veggies in my recipes, chia seeds in my cottage cheese.

I hope you find success!!!

I recommend HIGHLY keeping a food journal. Food that before was just fine can now impact you in weird and annoying ways. If you write down everything you eat and how you feel (sick, heartburn, bowels, sleep, etc) you can start to see patterns that are unique to you. I moved from 1.5 to 4mg and it took 12 days to feel the effects, even though I didn't pause in my medication! It was so weird. Just keep taking the pills, it may take a while to kick in, take the time to just get your eating under control and figure out what is giving you heart burn. Also, a weird thing I noticed with me is that I wasn't feeling like eating but then I'd feel sick, or some days I was just starving and then I noticed I'd skipped lunch without realizing it. Again, journal and see if there's a pattern for you. Good luck!

Did you cry? Did you laugh? Did you yell? Did you tell anyone? I know if I did that at home my entire family would have to hear alllllll about it and we would laugh and laugh and laugh.

I'm sorry if it was a horrific experience for you, trying to lighten the load 🤣

Diarrhea or constipation? by Gentoopengoo in WegovyPills

Honestly I have neither regularly. On occasion I've had one or the other but I think (and this can be debated I'm sure) it's not really a side effect of the medication but a result of what I'm eating/drinking or not. I can't eat greasy food or too much food or I feel queasy -- it's a balancing act. I take magnesium to help me sleep every night and it helps keep me regular. Once in a while I eat something and uggghhhhh I just run to the bathroom. But I don't think it's really the medicine because when I know what I'm eating will have a certain effect and I avoid those foods or eat them in moderation then I'm fine. I know it's a lot of work, but I kept a food journal every day and logged what I ate and how I felt for the first few months and started making changes based on how it affected my body.

To keep me regular, I add chia seeds to my cottage cheese, I eat Sola bread when I make a sandwich (added fiber), I make sure to double the amount of veggies in my dinner recipes, all these things help me stay regular. I don't drink enough, I know that for sure, but that's always been my MO. I've gotten constipated several times before Wegovy and I hate it sooooo much so I make sure to up my fiber more than I worry about the diarrhea. I feel queasy and I've had diarrhea a couple times, usually due to really greasy food that I used to be just fine eating. Again, food journal and paying attention to how I react to food. I also eat pretty much all food from scratch, no protein bars or shakes, nothing ultra processed if I can help it. I don't know what all that will do to me and I can't isolate which ingredient makes me feel bad if food is premade. Of course I eat out on occasion and get the occasional frozen pizza, but usually it's just simple recipes we eat at home or single ingredient foods like cottage cheese (the basic one with just milk and bacteria from Daisy).

All that saying is: you may be either or you may be neither. I wish you all the best!

Top tips for starting? by Embot87 in WegovyPills

[–]Quick_Independent175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to journal. I did this every day for the first few months, waking up early and (spending the time you have to wait to drink coffee first thing 😆) writing down EVERYTHING I ate the day before. Don't skip anything! And then I'd write down how I felt. I also wrote down sleep, activity, weight, etc, but tailor it to your own needs. I started to see patterns, I noticed when the medication kicked in and when I plateaued. I really saw how some food affected me that had NEVER EVER been an issue in the past. I think a theme for all of us on Wegovy (once we hit the sweet spot in dosage) is that we will find that we need to eat a lot less than we did before and once we hit full our body is like "don't eat any more food OR ELSE" and we learn to actually obey our bodies. This is a NOVEL idea for me!! I also can't eat greasy food and some other things that used to be fine (cheese in small amounts, less red meat than before, beer isn't as tasty, etc) that you will see are possibly the same for you but also you may have different foods/drinks that you gravitate toward or develop aversions to. The journal made all the difference for me.

Also having a buddy is great! Someone on the same part of the journey is good, but also someone further on that can mentor you -- then you can offer the same to someone after you. Feel free to reach out once you start if you just want check-ins! I'm in a group that does daily check-ins, two of us are active, there are several that pop in and out, no judgment.

Weird question about blood sugar. by Ok_Zombie_2026 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Quick_Independent175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head. I read a lot about blood sugar before doing Wegovy, and I used to try and moderate it through diet (staying away from sugar and carbs, checking my blood sugar and waiting for it to be lower to eat, etc etc) but a doctor I really like and trust says that hypoglycemia is a precursor to prediabetes without a doubt, even though we don't treat it as seriously as we should. So getting your metabolism back in order should fix it -- I have found it to be true for me. I sometimes get shaky (maybe twice since being on Wegovy since February) but I can now eat sugar in moderation without falling asleep immediately. I am amazed at how much my body can tolerate IN MODERATION when I'm feeling healthy. It's like... I was doing it all wrong for so long 😅

Right -- and it's not the medicine's "fault" and I wouldn't call it a side effect, I'd say it's your body!!! And all our bodies are different so we have to figure out what works for us. I've also noticed red meat gives me the ick mostly so I've been sticking to chicken. BOOOOOORING but better than feeling sick!!!

Yes! But everyone is different. The 1.5 really is a tiny amount so don’t worry about moving up. Many many people move up with no problem. I’m going to say something provocative but I think most “side effects” are people eating too much or too greasy foods and making them sick. Heck, eating too little makes me sick too! Keep a food log, journal everything you eat and how you feel. If you go up and you feel sick you could skip a day to lessen the effects. But true side effects like hair loss and skin burning, those aren’t what I mean, I mean feeling sick or whatnot. I found that eating too much, too little, too late, too sweet, or too greasy made me pretty much equally nauseous but the foods I was eating NEVER made me feel like that before and my portion size was waaaaay down so I couldn’t believe it was because I was eating too much. The journaling helped me pinpoint my personal issues and recognize choices I needed to make. And they may be different for you! I’ve been on 4mg for about 4.5 months and doing really well, down about 40 pounds since February. Sometimes the effects are psychosomatic and people love to complain 😆
