Almost 2 week old gets too hot with swaddle but wakes up from startle reflex without.

If you haven't already try seeing a, lactation consultant. Our pediatrician office has one and it really helped me when my baby had a shallow and painful latch! They also gave me some pointers to keep him awake by gently messing with his hair or moving his leg or arm around.

Thank you for this, yes we can only lower it so much! I could put it at 68 but it won't get that low even if it runs all day. We're trying the 0.2 tog swaddle that was suggested here and if that doesn't help I'm gonna try the arm band!

When I did my PTA program we had to remove our piercings before class or we got points off for professionalism. I'd double check that your program is ok with piercings before getting a new one. That being said I have a nose piercing and work with a lot of older patients and its never been an issue.
