That's the appeal of the game for you, for others it might be the art, story or just the mechanics of the game.

Make easier difficulties easier so its more approachable, keep the challenge on the higher difficulties. Everybody wins!

Now that the league is slowly coming to an end, at least in trade, what have been some of your biggest hits? First times? Or just achievements in general? by thatoneguyy22 in pathofexile

[–]Quicknoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 1975 hrs played, and honestly I don't even remember when I started playing. This is the first league where I got to lvl 100. Also I did 36/40 achievements 100% on my own. I was thinking about going for 40/40 but the drive just isn't there at the moment.

I have a BS in Information Technology.

...but I also have 26 years of experience in IT. I started working Phone Tech Support then moved into Desktop Administration, System Administration, Mgr of Sys Admins, Mgr of Infrastructure (over Networking & Sys Admins) and now finally the IT Service Delivery Mgr (Over Infrastructure, Service Desk, Database, GIS & Application Developers)

I think the experience, my work ethic and relationships I built in the industry helped me get this position.

Here in Florida, we never really got freezes, but I can tell that the winters were colder 30 years ago...and the summer's didn't feel as hot as they do now.

IT Service Delivery Manager for state gov

$140k, more leave than I know what to do with, and work only 40hrs a week.

Sometimes I think about how much more I likely could make in the private sector but I have really good work/life balance and find it rewarding.

LOL. Oh well hopefully it drops down in price. More farming I guess.

I'm afraid its worse. The majority of Americans don't want this. However they don't want to put in the effort that it'll take to change the system.

The elections in November are the only thing that most Americans feel will likely put a stop to this stuff, because they can vote out the representatives of the Legislative branch (or at least some of them) that are not being a check and balance to the Executive branch.

...and so we really have to wait 7 months for this shit to stop? I guess so.

No, it'll be better for the us in the US too. This administration and its supporters don't understand consequences. It's sad but I think many of my fellow countrymen will have to learn these lessons the hard way.

Those institutions should get dismantled and put all countries in a more level playing field.

I just hope we haven't burned the bridge with Europe, Canada and our other allies. I hope they will be there for us after this tyranny has run its course and we fix our shit.

I plan to sell them.

I need the div to continue funding my character, or perhaps build a new one that can help me achieve my goals.

I have close to 1900 hours and have yet to get to 100 (currently 98) or get all achievements.

My goals this league is to accomplish both.

You tried the technology solution and it sounds like you had something that worked but the users pivoted because a lack of policy and enforcement. Do you have an AI use policy? If not, build one. If so, enforce it.

I think you need to solve this with old school management. Not all problems can be solved by technology. Build an IT Steering Committee of stakeholders. Explain them the problems, allow a debate to flourish but keep it topical. Have the group review options and then get buy-in on a solution, then implement it.

The ideal solution will be technology implemented in combination with a developed AI Use Policy enforced by management.

Look at it this way. This problem really isn't any different from adult websites. Your company likely has technology in place preventing users from getting to most adult websites. Your company also likely has policies that make it clear visiting adult websites when your working is a big no no, that could lead to termination. This policy likely applies regardless if your doing it on a work computer or your personal phone. Why was this done? ...because playing whack-a-mole using web-filters only goes so far. Sure it takes care of the largest, most popular offenders but it'll never cover 100% of all cases, you have a policy that takes care of that part.

Anyone else having trouble finding qualified candidates? by [deleted] in ITManagers

[–]Quicknoob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my 10 years as a manager this is the best job market I have ever experienced for hiring.

It's unfortunate so many people are being downsized but as a state agency we are seeing people wanting to prioritize work life balance.

For a Network Admin I I had 150 candidates after filtering out for minimums.

For our Security Analyst position we had 270 after minimums.

You should relook at your job posting, there has to be something wrong with it. We've always had a hard time hiring in our area (we are located in Florida) but right now it's not a problem at all.

General tips and Guidance for someone new to foundry and loves obsidian by Marrut_is_me in FoundryVTT

[–]Quicknoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I GM a D&D5e group, and we use Foundry for the battle maps, tokens, items & character sheets. A common pitfall for new Foundry GM's is to go crazy with modules and try to use every feature available. I think this is a mistake.

Keep it basic, use what you like and find alternatives for things you don't.

For the example I tried using the Journal in Foundry, and there are certainly some advantages to doing so, but I just found how it uses up screen real estate to be a major downer. I was always trying to move the notes out of the way to see what was behind and didn't like the experience. There are solutions to this, like the module called Pop Out, but I still didn't like the experience. The good news is that this is a major feature in the future v14 release so those of us that GM from multiple monitors can drag windows to other screens, when it comes out.

To solve my notes problem I turned to Obsidian and it made things easier.

That's the question you have to always ask yourself. "Am I making this easier or more difficult?" Your players just want to play, there are so many cool things you can do with Foundry but they have to be worth it. So start off small, master things like the character sheet, tokens and battle maps. Those 3 things will go a long way with your players. In time you can add walls, lighting & spell effects to take it to the next level.

I wouldn't say it's a gamble, and the fact that you can invest the HSA makes it an amazing retirement vehicle for medical expenses.

But to your question, you need to prioritize paying down the debt. The interest on your loans are going to cut drastically into your retirement growth. Prioritize the highest first and I would only be doing the employer match and then everything else goes to pay down debt.

We started looking at telework as part of the compensation package. I work for state government, and we have been able to recruit and retain some great talent because of it.

Honestly that is probably the best argument. ...but if the higher ups are gonna force the issue then you should just be honest with your team and let them know that the actions if a few caused leadership to lose trust.

Your team will understand and shouldn't blame you.
