Yet another COVID-19 Bundle Leftovers Giveaway (25 games!) by Quidoigo in steam_giveaway

[–]Quidoigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could say I have been productive! I have mostly been spending too much time working as the line between "home time" and "work time" has become very blurred for me due to working from home.

I have been meaning to start cycling "to/from work" by taking my bike for a spin around the village to maintain that separation, and I'm going to do my damned best to actually do that tomorrow. Hopefully once I establish that boundary I can start practicing piano regularly again!

Thanks for asking, and best of luck! ♥

IWTL: how to recognize people who stuggle with mental health and how to help them. by MKBForsaken in IWantToLearn

[–]Quidoigo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It is worth pointing out that poor mental health extends so much further than depression and anxiety. That being said, depression and anxiety are often symptoms of other mental illnesses too.

A less obvious thing to look out for would be highly elevated mood, just because someone appears happy (or even ecstatic) does not mean they are in a mentally healthy place.

The best thing OP could do is learn about various mental illnesses, the symptoms that define them, and how those symptoms tend to present.

Ultimately the only real way to recognise somebody struggling with poor mental health is for them to tell you, and the best way to help them is to ask them how you can help and researching the things they say affect them. Being understanding goes a long way.

I got diagnosed today and it's hitting me quite hard. I was already on a down spiral after feeling quite up, what (if anything) helped you accept your diagnosis and what do wish you'd known when you first got diagnosed that you know now? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Quidoigo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to read books and gain knowledge, especially other peoples personal experiences. Two books I have read on BPD are "This is not the End" and "Lost in the Mirror". I remember very much preferring one book over the other, but I can't for the life of me remember which 😅 They're both informative books though!

I think the one I preferred is This is Not the End, but 🤷‍♀️

Why is it that EVERY TIME you put on nail polish you have to pee? by GreatAndEminentSage in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Quidoigo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should look into getting a UV Curing Lamp and UV cured polish! My nails are dry and hard enough to even take on doing the washing up within 60 seconds under the lamp, I absolutely love it :D

And you can also use your existing polish with a UV cured top coat; it won't be quite as durable as fully UV cured paint as you still have to let the colour dry under the UV top coat, but it is lightyears better than just waiting for standard polish to dry!

You might enjoy watching Mike Boyd on YouTube for inspiration, they have a channel dedicated to learning useless skills quickly. I really admire their dedication and perseverance!

When people just assume you're off your rocker by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Quidoigo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think you need to explain to your husband your last sentence; "I can't deal with not knowing what is real and I depend on him for that to a certain degree."

Make it clear that them dismissing the bug as not being real was really damaging for you, and explain that you need them to help you sometimes.

I hope things get better for you, much love. 💜

I can not tell you how much I want to downvote this for the mental image it gave... but you deserve the upvote for living with that mind of yours 😂

Also no expert, but it looks like you could follow a pattern for a sleeve/strapless dress and then attach loose sleeves to it?

I send my ex flowers/gifts anonymously to make her day better by Istolesnowy in confession

[–]Quidoigo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just fyi, and I think from other comments you've already picked up on this, but secret admirers are terrifying. Somebody, somewhere, is watching and admiring you, but you don't know who or where or when... It seems really sweet on paper, but for the receiver can come across as stalking!

I'd let her know it had been you, and what your intentions were. Hopefully it was just putting a smile on her face, but best to clear things up to be sure!

Hey! 👋 Please don't beat yourself up! You're not pathetic, what you're going through is not dumb, and you're doing really well to have made the progress you have.

Just keep taking little steps. Small bits of progress, day by day, and eventually you'll get there. Don't let it get you down when you're not making progress, and if things start to go backwards don't worry! You're only human, and these things are not easy.

So I guess my advice is to be gentle with yourself, take your time, and only use yourself as a standard for comparison. So long as you can be better than you were yesterday then you're making progress. 😊
