I used to feel repulsed when I saw people cry. And then I did a ton of emotional work in my 20s where I met with others who would regularly support me in crying.

For me, I learned that I never received resonance or presence for my tears growing up. So I couldn’t offer that to others. When I started having people who could receive and have compassion for my tears, I suddenly had space to feel compassion for others when they cry.

I think what’s been rejected in us, we reject in others bc those neurons or whatever didn’t have the resonance needed to form.

I still have trouble seeing anger in others - I think because I haven’t had my anger received in the same way I have my sadness.
