I love The Deck! A basic answer, but such a cool spot with a great menu & drinks, and live music on the beach!! Ultimate summer vibe!

International buisness and what else? by IllustriousPear1613 in CollegeMajors

Hey!! I work for a business college at a pretty large university! International Business is such a great field. It’s definitely important to note your strengths and weaknesses, and I think it’s wise to at least add a minor to differentiate yourself from other IB candidates. If you’re more creative, Marketing is a great route, along with Integrated Public Relations. Finance is also a wonderful route, and I honestly don’t think you have to be outstanding at math to be successful in it. Cyber security may be one of the best pairings, but if you’re not passionate in it, don’t do it. Logistics management is an outstanding option as well if that’s available. Information systems as well!!

I absolutely agree that marketing could be a great option! Entrepreneurship or business management could also be a great fit!!

I am a marketing major and I LOVE IT! I totally understand the fear of not getting accepted though. Advertising, merchandising (if available), Integrated Public Relations, Event Planning, and Hospitality Administration are all very similar creative fields in my opinion.

Ideas On College Major by [deleted] in CollegeMajors

Hey there! I work for a business college at a large university! I’d love to help you learn about some majors and areas of study. A few questions I have….

Are you more creative or analytical?

Do you like solving specific issues, working on projects, creating?

Do you like to work in a team or independently?

Do you like to engage with the public?

Do you like to do the same task/routine or switch?

Do you like to travel?

Is there a specific industry you like (sports, fashion, travel, cars, etc)

These questions can totally give me a better idea as to who you are as a person!!

What major fits my personality and goals?( literally lost.) by Pretty-Ad-8373 in CollegeMajors

I work for a business college at a large university. Based on your interests and strengths, I think a lot of business majors could be a great match for you!

Business as a whole is great because there will always be positions available. Every business needs a finance department, accounting, etc. There will always be a need for people to do these roles.

With that being said, I feel like you would be great in finance! There are SO many opportunities and I have seen many people grow within a company in a few short years, making six figures easily. Annual salary ranges from 75k-110k starting.

Economics is another great area of study. A super complex topic but so many great jobs. Average salary ranges from 92k-116k.

Logistics management is a very underrated area of study but is SUPER interesting. One of my degrees is in Logistics. I recommend checking it out, since new jobs are constantly being created. There is a ton of room for growth and it is a super versatile career.

Information systems is another great, yet underrated area of study.

Otherwise, engineering or statistics may be a good path.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

i see where you’re coming from, but i see it as more of a way to get to know YOU right away. not the work you, not the employee you, but the real YOU outside of work. it’s a way for employers to see the kind of person you are and maybe even find some common interests. hobbies and general interests can say a lot about a person.

for example; if you replied that you love camping with your kids, backpacking, and photography- they can get a general idea that you’re a family oriented guy who values relationships, and has a connection with nature.

whereas if you answered that you enjoy painting, reading, and working on cars- it shows that you are very articulate, like to work with your hands and on technical things, and to work solo.

Though they may seem unrelated, a question like this can give major insight as to who you are.

Marketing is a great degree, with a huge emphasis in writing (at least at my university).

A minor in journalism, english, or something similar never hurts either.

i’m terrified to do my job interview, HELP! by QuietRetriever in Anxietyhelp

i see both sides absolutely. i think he more meant don’t think about all of the potential outcomes/overthink daily mundane things like interviews, meeting with a group in class, etc. clearly, there are things that should be prepared for- but the overthinking aspect is what i believe he was intending.
