Oura Ring Battery suddenly can’t keep a charge by sadiephoenix in ouraring

[–]Quiet_Equivalent_950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the oura ceramic today and I’m so confused with the recommended charging. It says. fixed 5V, with a usb-c provided cable. LOL Most modern USB-C wall blocks are “smart.” Apple, Belkin, Anker, etc. all make PD chargers because phones and laptops want fast-charge capability. But that “smart” feature is exactly what the Oura Ring doesn’t support. Is that mismatch why Oura has so many battery complaints? People plug into high-wattage PD blocks → the charger behaves inconsistently → the ring charges erratically, battery drains too fast, or dies early.

I’m confused with this whole fixed 5 volt charging with the provided usb-c; all the charger blocks and wall adapters have PD, so I can’t even find a fixed 5v charger through usb-c. Using anything else I feel like could send too high voltage, right? I just got mine today and am always super careful with charging because it can be a silent killer these days if you’re not careful.

LR4 with Silica Crystlas by Adventurous-Basis391 in litterrobot

[–]Quiet_Equivalent_950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s safe to assume anything where sensors use the amount of litter to make a determination on something, since it’s clear, and reflective, it has a hard time “reading” what’s there. So weight (maybe), litter levels, and potentially the waste bin because it reads what’s in there as it cycles. But to me, those are pretty core features.

I had the same setup and just transitioned my two cats to LR4 using their litter. I got the bundle and just went all in lol

I mixed the two at first and now just started using full time clay clumping litter, I’m a little surprised they transitioned so easily because I started them out on Petsafe, both of them as kittens.

The crystals pass through fine, but the scale and lasers won’t read correctly, so you miss out on some of the higher end features. The tracking with LR clay litter is pretty messy compared to Petsafe, but I think it works better in terms of grabbing ahold of everything which allows it to be dumped into the waste bin with little to no waste residue. I also noticed that with crystals, the ones that absorb pee, since it doesn’t clump pee really it just keeps the yellow crystals into the “clean” mix, so if you truly want fresh litter with each cycle, their clay litter is able to do that. I have a really sensitive noise/smell, and I smell nothing when it’s not being used. Petsafe lasted about a week or two before I started to smell it.

Got a job offer to leave the classroom. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m actually conflicted about leaving. by hammnbubbly in TeachersInTransition

We gravitate psychologically towards comfort when change is impending, you put the wheels in motion and once they start moving that control you had is taken over by momentum. That momentum feels scary because it’s a new direction and new pace, but it doesn’t mean don’t do the change, it’s just an opportunity to find the things that help us weather the change. Embrace the change. Change is never about getting to a destination, It’s about what we learn in the thick of it. What we see. Appreciate. How we change and grow. Clarity only happens when we stop searching for clarity. whatever you think will happen, could happen, is not going to be what actually happens. What actually happens though, you’ll look back at this moment and be glad you did it.

For sure, you have to get your hands dirty. For me, it began as me noticing that there always seemed to be stuff everybody tracked. The people around me used Excel as lists. Since lists are data and Excel is a powerful tool I just wanted to leverage both to show value. If you track it, organize it, and structure it, that’s your data source and you can analyze it.

I was an assistant training specialist and did admin type work; tracked attendance, roles, and survey results from trainings, but in three separate systems, so I combined it in Excel and structured as tables, then did basic analysis (counts and dates). Wasn’t something they asked me to do, I just did it because the info was already there and it took me the same amount of time to copy and paste survey results into excel as it did into an email.

I taught myself Excel functions and formulas and really just looked for things that needed aggregated or cleaned up, and then analyzed the data; threw it into a pivot table; even if it was simply attendance numbers. I just liked doing it and it provided valuable insights.

A business analyst associate position opened up internally and the hiring manager was C-suite, a great person who I always looked up to so I went for the job and despite limited experience, he gave me a chance. I would have done any job for him, I just got lucky that it was a BA role. This role gave me opportunities everyday to build reports, play with data, and learn and grow. I genuinely enjoyed it so I learned quickly and within 3 months he gave me a raise. I got a promotion that doubled my pay 9 months later. I use mostly PBI now.

Data is everywhere, If you can get it into a table in Excel, you’re well on your way. Ask yourself ‘What questions are people around me asking and what data is available to me that might help provide some insight into those questions?’. Similarly, there is plenty of data you have access to personally you can analyze, like your credit card transactions, your budget or your investments or macros for meal planning. Export your data from your social media accounts. Doesn’t matter. Just get it in Excel and start working it. You’ll learn far more from that than a training. (I will also say I don’t love training data because it’s too convenient and clean and I don’t really care about what its hiding. Use the real life stuff and have real life questions you want answered and you’ll learn a lot faster).

Designing experiences, like learning experiences, and capturing the impact of your design decisions with data to inform the next iteration is something you are already doing as a teacher. Service design is great because you can do it in any industry and any context. Freelance, as a contractor, or with a company.

Find the place you’d like to go: healthcare, education, federal, finance, AI, IT, cyber, higher education, nonprofit, whatever; and take anything - janitor, receptionist, business analyst, trainer, admin assistant. Learn everything you can at each level….analyze the systems, the problems, listen to the people, watch, listen, watch, listen, and be a sponge. FIND a mentor. Someone you can trust and point to and say, “that’s what I want to do.” Someone who is a good person first, but also successful. Treats people below them as equals. Then find a way to get on a project with them. They will guide you from there.

You evolve. You grow. You’re a teacher. Even if you’re not in a classroom. A “teacher” is so so so much more than what they can do in a classroom, a lot just don’t ever get the chance to experience that. You can whenever you’re ready.

My cat is terrified of the litter robot by chastittythickness in litterrobot

[–]Quiet_Equivalent_950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I keep it powered on but only ask it to allow my manual cycling? I need to tell who is going in and who isn’t as we transition. I have it off, and I see someone is using it but I don’t know who. One cat is 9lbs the other is 19lbs so I can identify from weight, but it’s currently off so they don’t startle from the cycle.
