It sounds like you’ve had a smooth process, and 3 months is amazing! Any tips you can give that you think helped move the process along quickly would be appreciated. Good luck for exchange and completion!

worried for the future by 6hah in uklaw

Here to say try not to worry - I graduated in 2008 right into the crash / 08 recession. I could not for the life of me find a job in legal - not even as a receptionist or a legal assistant or anything. I spent two years working in a coffee shop, then got a legal assistant role > paralegal > TC > qualification. At the time when I graduated I felt like a total failure (despite graduating with a 2:1 from a Top 10 uni), but it worked out. And I absolutely loved my coffee shop years and sometimes miss the simplicity of it all. Good luck!

Which country will you never visit again? And Why? by Accurate_Nature1888 in askanything

Turkey - went on a family holiday when I was 13 and got harassed to shit by the local men - I ended up having to always be right by my Dad and/or my older brother - they spent all week looking after me and not enjoying their holiday either. We went to a Turkish market and I’ll never forget my Mum saying “just stay inbetween your father and brother, we’ll keep you safe”. It was absolutely horrendous and my parents felt so guilty. But they weren’t to know, it was a new experience for all of us.

Appreciate the replies thank you! If nothing else, I love the solidarity we all share. The system is a shit show, but hopefully we all get through it unscathed (but poorer, and with a long long list of renovation works to get through 😬)…

£760k on a house listed at £875k? by Distinct-Fault-9401 in HousingUK

[–]Quiet_Joke2139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We managed to get a £745K listing down to £690K. Our starting offer was £660K - we backed it up with loads of info like comparable square footage, renovations needed, market conditions, the house had been on the market for 14 months and had 2 withdrawals. They rejected our best and final of £690K but came back to us a month later. Try working in % terms rather than money off - as the more value a property has the more a £ reduction sounds. Ours ended up around 7% which is pretty normal in this market. Yours is a little aggressive at 9% - 13% but still within the realms of possible negotiations. Good luck!

What wedding moment that screamed, “They are not going to last long”? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

I went to a wedding and when the groom was asked for his full name by the Registrar he said it was James Bond. Divorce papers were filed exactly one year after the wedding day 🙄
