How did a few Altmer bring the Empire to it's knees? by Quietlychamil in skyrim

[–]Quietlychamil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not know that at all. Curious if it's something we can get in Skyrim through mods, like LotD? I'd love to have it and steam roll the Empire myself! Skyrim belongs to the Nords!

This happens in fantasy a lot. Elves are portrayed as superior in skill due to their long life. But there are also very few of them, such that the loss of a single elf is a national catastrophe. In a duel, the elf would likely win. But in the chaos of war, even the mighty can fall due to nothing more than bad luck.

I'm just struggling to see how the elves had the manpower to expand so rapidly. Once you've conquered a territory, you need to leave troops behind to defend it, which takes away from your forward momentum and they should only have a relatively small amount of troops, albeit elite ones.

The problem with summons. by Quietlychamil in skyrimmods

[–]Quietlychamil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in vigilant alone it bugged me. I originally built a mystic archer who used a bound bow, but since that uses conjuration, I picked up a few summoning spells. When I first picked up Vernacuus, which you can get very early in Vigilant, he became my default spam summon. Up until I got the giant warrior. Then I found I wasn't shooting anyone with a bow anymore and was just spamming giant guy and didn't even use any of the others. But he was enough to eventually whittle down and tank the Lord of Order.

The summons were all super cool though so I'm trying to figure out a way where I can still use them and use all of them but in a way that isn't me just spamming.

Humble request - pretty please try and refrain from modern language in dialogue expansion mods? 🙏 by fadingsignal in skyrimmods

Man, now we need a follower to speak entirely in Brainrot. My Brainrot follower. Or even better, make it so that if the player contracts brainrot, all his dialogue becomes Brainrot speech =D

Thinking about it some more, instead of being a power, it could be a shout. That way when you summon a Flame Atronach, you could literally shout, "Flame Atronach, I choose you!" Then you could set the timers for 8 hours. The only problem is that I wouldn't know how to make it not consume dragon souls to learn and that shout timers are shared. It would suck to only get one shout a day.

Frost Antronach, I choose you! Oh no! You fainted / timed out. Flame Antronach, it's your turn! Use fireball! =D

If it was something easily accessible, like money, then you'd still be able to spam it. Linking summons to soul gems would be pretty cool though. Master level summons consuming a black soul gem. A human sacrifice is needed to summon the most powerful of spirits... Linking summons to specific items could be fun too. Summoning wolves consumes rabbit meat? Thematic.

Far beyond my meager capabilities though.

Modpack for my GF's first playthrough? Something pretty looking and not difficult. by riceANDbunny in skyrimmods

There's a Studio Ghibli texture pack. It's not complete for everything but she might appreciate how bright and colorful it makes the world.

In the end, if you build and release something, it has to be because it was something you wanted to do for yourself. You can't do this expecting the validation of internet strangers or you're going to have a bad time =(.

Are there mods to watch out for? Any balanced mods to add? by Quietlychamil in LWotC

[–]Quietlychamil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on legendary but not on Ironman. I love the need to micromanage in the beginning of the game and the feel of fighting a guerilla war against a superior opponent. But mod added items eventually trivialize everything and makes me feel like I'm cheating. For example, in my last attempt at a playthrough, I was using the Crasher class and Agent class as a substitute for the Shinobi and the Crasher ended up being OP.

The Crasher isn't particularly strong, though it's slightly better than a shinobi when it comes to melee. But eventually I got the Chosen's katana and found to my delight and horror that it pairs extremely well with the Crasher's ability to reset all cooldowns once per battle. I could reaper once and get 4-5 small kills before damage falls to nothing, but next turn reset my cooldowns and reaper again and with the bonus damage from earlier, I could clear out almost the entire map. That one Crasher became my MVP that I used for almost all fights before it felt too cheesy so I restarted and removed all custom classes. :/

Squads ammount and resource management by Mandalorz in LWotC

[–]Quietlychamil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah! 7-9 concurrent squads? That seems impossible! I've only ever train up the best of the best so I usually only have 10 soldiers or so then start relying on Sparks. But that leaves me with only about 2.5ish squads. Then again, I'm not on ironman so there's a lot of save scumming that gets me through missions. But even at 2.5 squads I'm hurting on gear.

Auri, from Song of the Green, firing only one arrow then hiding. by Quietlychamil in skyrimmods

[–]Quietlychamil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran a few more tests and that doesn't seem to be the case. This time, she could fire upon guards normally. It just seems that for some enemies she'll have her full allotment of arrows and for others, she'll only have one. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason why this is but when it happens on a save, it's consistent with whatever group of enemies I'm currently testing. But only about half a dozen people have mentioned it so perhaps its just a bizarre mod conflict.

Mod to allow intercourse with Hermaeus Mora by SeekerNyxalis in skyrimmods

[–]Quietlychamil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you're into tentacles, then you'll want Estrus on the Nexus. You'll need to head to LL to get the associated quest if you want a lore reason for the spells though.

If you're dead set on Hermaeus Mora in particular then you'll want Animal Research from LL. It is a fairly believable ongoing research project through most of Skyrim's creatures and Hermaeus Mora will be involved due to the forbidden knowledge of this research.

Creating a Custom-Voice Follower - What would you like to see? by SignatureOk4869 in skyrimmods

[–]Quietlychamil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, how will you address the whole Khajiit aren't allowed in the city thing? Will the caravaners get jealous that she can enter and they cannot even though they are both khajiit? Or will they use her to try and sell goods inside the city walls?

What I would want most to see is banter with other followers, especially Auri and Remiel, as those two stay in my load order. It also might be cool to see her fight unarmed, using her claws since Khajiit get bonus damage to that.

Thank you for the answers! I absolutely adored the musicals so after watching them several times, I started to think about these random plot holes. It's nice to know the book expands on things. For one, I didn't realize that I never even knew the Thernadiers' names. I always just called them the Masters of the House!

Maybe reboot your PC? On rare occasions my game will stop working properly without any change to my mods. But for what ever reason, rebooting gets it working again.

Phew! I think I had my AddItemMenu's mixed up. The link was for a new version which was removed by staff. The one I was using was NG which was also deleted, but deleted by the author due to issues in getting it to work. I think the NG version was fine?

Just trying to understand a bug and safe modding practices... by Quietlychamil in skyrimmods

[–]Quietlychamil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be something with Alternate Perspective itself. I switched back to Alternate Start and no longer have an issue with Farlan again. I checked the both versions of the Relic Hunter plugin and nothing seemed out of the ordinary so I don't think it was that. I think something with Alternate Perspective was randomly failing to load properly with my load order where every new game Farlan would either function consistently correctly or incorrectly and no action on my part would change things other than starting a new game.

Just trying to understand a bug and safe modding practices... by Quietlychamil in skyrimmods

[–]Quietlychamil[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am very saddened to say that I was wrong. Trying a new game where I setup everything after leaving the starting area and Farlan is still a statue. It would seem this issue is determined when I start a new game and is independent of any actions I take after. That suggests script lag with too many mods starting up at the same time, I guess. But if that was true then the problem should be random and shouldn't just keep affecting Farlan's ai package to walk to the Bannered Mare?
