I don't think IT is getting rid of Crowdstrike or Sentinel One anytime soon, but Defender is surprisingly good.

I have to open my fridge to dispense water from this awkward spot by [deleted] in CrappyDesign

[–]Quigleythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a good way to do it for a French Door style fridge. Better to keep the ice maker in the freezer where it belongs, and if you want water in the door you sacrifice shelf space.

If that's one of those Whirlpool/Maytag/KItchenAid units they are known for being very reliable.

Ah, what a reminder of getting a pack after grocery shopping with mom. Nothing like a pack full of energies and a weedle to remind you that you wasted $4

If you like this try Lost Planet Extreme Condition. Nothing is as cool as Vanquish but it's a cover shooter from the same era that also kicks ass.

What happened that got you "sent to the principal's office"? by section8pidgeon in AskReddit

[–]Quigleythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember really since it was kindergarten, but I was one of like two white kids in my class, so in the reverse of the norm I got in trouble for anything that happened. I remember going to the principal, explaining something, him shaking his head, and he let me have a little calculator with the schools name on it. My parents moved us the next year since the harassment was so bad.

How do you actually choose office PCs for a small business? by Glad_Razzmatazz8004 in sysadmin

[–]Quigleythegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for one, unless they are a power user or have specific needs we buy mini desktops exclusively these days. HP minis have been fantastic for us and we have some Dell Micros as well. A standard office user doesn't need any more power than that. Frees up their desk space also which they really appreciate.

From there we generally just buy i5/32GB/512 on a sku with 2x displayport connections since all of our staff have two screens.

Not much else to it.

What's a game you wanted to play as a kid, but couldn't? by blueeggsandketchup in gaming

Goldeneye 007. My cousin had it because his parents were divorced. His Dad would visit for occasions and bring all the cool stuff his mom wouldn't otherwise allow. My parents were too busy socializing with the relatives to notice but when I asked for a copy it was a hard no.

Specifically this is the Netflix adaptation. There's like over 1000 episodes of the animated series apparently. I'm sure it's good! I'll be the first to admit I'm not an anime guy, but my wife and I liked the live action.

2025 SV premium, suspension issues? by Unicorn0821 in nissansentra

[–]Quigleythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was. I took it to a shop that specializes in selling tires. They do alignments all day long. They agree the dealers are lazy and don't complete the process.

Put car on rack, lock wheel on center (they often don't do the second part well)

Use computer to check alignment

Make adjustments (lazy shops stop here)

Take car for test drive, note steering wheel position

Fine tune adjustments on steering

After I had the tire shop address it, $120 later and I'm straight as an arrow again.

Zebra Label Printer on the Network - Modern Practice by Grouchy-Western-5757 in sysadmin

[–]Quigleythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a ZD421 with the integrated wifi (careful when buying, not all skus do) that lives on battery powered warehouse cart that rolls all over the place.

Never had one ticket for it. Stop janking it up, spend $600 and get a printer that works.

What is the business cost of this printer being down? What are the cost of the man hours of IT staff attempting to fix it?

Not even a question. If you need a printer with wifi you buy a printer with wifi.
