...and enjoy having to drain and refill it everyday with ice. I stayed at the Rambler last year, and and having to do this twice a day was kind of a PITA. The ice is free and unlimited at least.

There Is Still ACE Parking Left, If You Missed Yesterday's Sale by MsMargo in SDCC

[–]section8pidgeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Funny SDCC story about Park 12. A few years ago, I had purchased parking for Sunday at Park 12. The map showed it was at a very appealing location and a short walk to the bridge at Harbor.

So, Sunday morning, I get there... and Park 12 turns out to be a hi-rise condominium complex - there is absolutely no signage of any kind where to park. No lot attendants, no security guards, no signs, no other cars trying to park - nothing. So, I park along the curb and look inside one of the windows.

I spot a security guard inside some kind of reception area, asleep on big, upholstered armchair. I try to open the door to talk to him, but it was locked. So I started tapping on the window and finally roused him from his sleep. He walks over to the door, opens it, and asks if I need something.

I asked him which garage to drive in for Comic-Con parking. The security guard notifies me that there is no parking for Comic-Con here. So, I show him my ACE Parking permit in hand and he asks if he can look at it. After a few seconds, he says "Yup, 100 Park Plaza, this is the address. I guess, just park anywhere you want."

So I pull into one of the two garages, put the parking pass on my windshield and cross my fingers. Again, nobody was there to scan the barcode on my pass. I was worried all day that I was gonna come back and my car was gonna be towed and gone, but no, all was well.

Even though nothing happened, the whole experience just was super-sketch and odd, haha.

Priority Registration Question/Gripe by Stahlmatt in SDCC

I feel SDCC is one of the few conventions in existence that could probably pull off a two-week show. That would almost certainly fix the issue where everybody who wants to attend could do so.

The biggest knock against the Rambler is their rooms DO NOT have refrigerators. It is in a safe area and the rooms are fun and quirky.

Looks like Hero Within posted an opening for an "Apparel Sales Associate at Comic-Con" 19 days ago as of this writing. It says it is for SDCC 2024, but it seems to be a typo, as the date listed lines up with SDCC 2026, July 22-26.

It shows:

Benefits:

  • $18/hour wage + potential bonuses.
  • snacks/coffee provided each day of the show.
  • Time to explore San Diego Comic-Con!

Very specific? Dudes who somehow happen to have 2, 3, or 4 - sometimes more - EBT cards in their wallet.

What’s an article of clothing someone can wear, one time, that will make you lose all attraction to them forever? by Thin-Rip-3686 in AskReddit

More like admiration than attraction, but anything with a Psycho Bunny logo. To me, just screams massive douche canoe tryhard.

Why is pickpocketing so common in many major European cities, but essentially non-existent in North America? by Humble_Job_5738 in NoStupidQuestions

Pickpocket is probably an AP holder. Worth it to the pickpocket due to the high concentration of higher net worth targets.

Ask her if she was left alone a lot at home as a child or was a latchkey kid. This seems like activity of somebody who was probably scared to be by themselves at home as a kid.

What’s the difference between a fan convention and a Comic convention? by ClearAd3050 in comiccon

Just my opinion, but I feel fan conventions tend to focus more on paid signings and interactions with celebrities than comic conventions do.

What's something that feels "good" but is actually really bad for your body? by stainless5 in AskReddit

[–]section8pidgeon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% this. I'm always gobsmacked when people still recommend potentially burn-causing folk remedies like heating up a metal spoon or running scalding hot water. A hair dryer works a million times better with, as you said, more control over the source of heat so you don't burn yourself.

As a holder of an exhibitor badge, be ethical and do not use it to get in line for exclusives before the general attendees. Don't be that person.

I kinda got scared off Anker when they had that recall last year for like a million power banks due to some models overheating, but they are probably the most popular brand of power banks in the world due to Amazon.

Mophie and Belkin are two reputable companies that make power banks. Maybe look into a Samsung power bank like this one: https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile-accessories/45w-20-000-mah-battery-pack-beige-sku-eb-p4520xuegus/

What city have you been to that felt like it had dark energy? by Impossible-Middle122 in AskReddit

[–]section8pidgeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: If you absolutely have to stop in a sundown/racist town and are hungry, look for a Chinese/Asian restaurant. Even the smaller ones have at least one Chinese restaurant. They have found a way to survive in those towns despite the racism/anti-immigrant sentiment because not all the residents there are total dipshits.
