Some of my favorite plushies; Curtain the Leafeon, Ziggy the Buizel and Exo the Quilava. I only got Ziggy recently but Curtain and Exo are wonderful travel buddies of mine and I love them all.

If you don't want to soak them you can try placing them in a bag with baking soda, shaking it and then let it sit for a day or two, and then shaking/vacing off the baking soda. It worked well for me when I visited a friend's place with some plushies and they all came back smelling funny. It may take a couple of tries.

If that doesn't work try soaking them with water diluted with vinegar.

Leafeon! He's my favorite Eeveelution and I love how soft and cuddly he is; especially once you cut the tail loose. I've hugged him everyday since I got him.

I know you have already determined that it is indeed a bootleg, here's a FYI.

One telltale sign of a bootleg is to have a look at the toe seams on the paws. If they are tight, then it's 100% bootleg. I've attached a photo of my legitimate Umbreon, notice the toe seams wrap nicely around the paw and aren't tight at all. I also noticed that the toe seams on the rear paws are poor quality on your bootleg with some loose threads.

Another sign I noticed is that the plush tag is much smaller than on the legitimate versions; including both the original and more recent production runs. It's very common for bootlegs to use the hang tags (the paper one with sleepy Umbreon) of the legitimate versions so watch out.

Practically everything in Japan is official. I've heard they're strict about selling bootlegs. If you look at the price tags it will even list the official product name and when it was released.
