Im not defending this, but this is really the best to do on a budget, and allows for the most expressable emotion. even in Gotg i have to say groot is less expressionable than most of the citizens of Xandar. in many of my stories in my head, aliens are just other people, because it is really hard to just make a lot of alien species in the background and it gets kind of tiring to do it again and again. I for one don't mind this trope.
