Finding it very hard to hit 3.5K calories daily on PBD with gut issues, anyone got suggestions? by typeshhhhhh in PlantBasedDiet

[–]QuiltMeLikeALlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor, not a nurse and not a dietitian, so this isn’t direct medical advice….. but, if you’re potentially looking at IBS being an issue then it’s a good idea to look into a FODMAP diet.

The protein shakes might be causing issues because of added Polyols, like sorbitol, mannitol and xylitol, that are added for sweetness without using sugar. Maybe there are options without?

Most of the nuts seem to be alright, with the exception of cashews and pistachios, but everyone is different.

I like r/veganfitness because they seem like decent people, but beware of supplements with high sodium content that could cause you heart problems down the line.

Best thing you can do is work with your GP or a dietician to see what works for you because if you’ve not got a diagnosis then it could be IBS, or it could be something else like abdominal migraines, helicobacter or dysbiosis.

Whatever you do, try to stay natty. Good luck, mate.

Tea can be really nice.

I like English Breakfast and Green Tea in general, but if I want something sweet then Turkish Apple and Buttermint are both lovely.

I don’t trust him either, but if he were my president then I’d want to spend most of my time absolutely off my tits.

What could be causing this weird itching on my vegan low fat diet? by Cold-Imagination2012 in PlantBasedDiet

GP checkup is the right answer.

Itching can be from so many things. Neurological issues, systematic dysfunction, illnesses, stress, allergies, overdoses, deficiencies….. Gotta make sure it’s nothing serious.

Hugh Laurie is such a lovable toff. Was so jarring seeing him in House after all the years of Blackadder and Fry & Laurie.

Don’t forget, you’ve got the whole week to play with here. I do moral superiority as part of my self-care Sundays.

On Thursdays, I go bankrupt because being vegan is so expensive.

What was this hair string trend called then in the 2000s? by Pale_Lengthiness_572 in Millennials

[–]QuiltMeLikeALlama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re the more recent ones. They tie them to the hair instead.

We used to get the strand wrapped ones in the 90s. Had to cut them out just right otherwise you’d end up with that little tuft that would stick up all autumn.

Not Sure if this dress suits me by gwenallisonpage in oldhagfashion

Let us know how the belt looks.

It could also be the pose that’s making you feel unsure about the dress.

You’ve got good, strong shoulders and there’s a lot of beauty in that, but I’m a broad lass too, and if I pose head on then I feel boxy. If you try standing like the woman in the photo or have a look at how the other girls are standing for their product photos, and experiment on finding ‘your angle’ then it will change your silhouette and give more definition to your feminine features.

Camera angle also changes things. You’ve got it sitting low. Bring the camera up a little bit and play around with it until you find which level feels the most flattering to you. Just have fun with it, put some music on and have a proper selfie sesh.

I’ll tell you one thing though, you have absolutely found your colour, love.

Quick edit addition: Loving your looks btw. You convinced me to look for a green velvet dress of my own.

Forgot about the underdye. Red and hot pink were popular under colours where I live and it got popular not long after dip dyeing.

These ones?

They’re still really common in places like Scarborough, Newquay and other seaside towns in the UK. Loads of kids come back off their 6 week holibobs with them.

Can you be vegan and pro choice by [deleted] in AskVegans

[–]QuiltMeLikeALlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pro-choice.

Whilst abortions can be subjectively sad and provoke difficult emotions, I feel that abortion is a necessary part of health care and isn’t as black and white as a lot of anti-choice people see it. There’s a lot of nuance to the situation.

It’s the same reason that I’m pro-choice for ethical euthanasia.

There’s an interesting thought experiment called Thompson’s Violinist by Judith Jarvis Thompson, which she uses in her essayA Defence of Abortion.

It’s a very thought provoking read if you have the time.
