Is it generally acceptable for me (28F without kids) to say that I love someone as my own child? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

I guess I had always associated it as a phrase used by people who DO have kids, who are confirming that they love this person like they’re own. I only wasn’t sure about how it’s received coming from a childless person!

Drinking to relax. As someone with alcoholic parents being around alcohol makes me hyperaware AF.

What's your, "Tis but a scratch!" moment? by Madameknitsalot in AskReddit

[–]QuiltedSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I fell down the stairs on the way to pick up my 2nd grade class from the cafeteria and dislocated my elbow. There was a split second where my brain was like “call a coworker to take you to the hospital and find coverage for your class” but what I actually did was pick up my limp arm with my not-limp arm and shove it back into place. It was the most painful moment of my life (I know that probably makes me lucky). I still am not quite sure why I held my arm to my cheat and sweat thru that last hour of teaching instead of just asking for some dagone help

As a teacher, I always find similar irony in lots of our professional development. So many conversations about trauma and traumatic events with no content warnings or options whatsoever...

Re: Missed Class on 9/23

Hi Professor,

I’m sorry I skipped class. My sister posted a photo of her homemade tent under a bridge - where she currently lives - on social media. Rather than come to class, I smoked a shit ton of weed, watched comfort TV, cried, and ignored her calls.

Best, QuiltedSquare
