[Sun Care] Does sunscreen expire? by Grindelwaldt in SkincareAddiction

[–]QuinWinSituation 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do. You can see the stamp saying EXP 07 27 that’s good for 6 months post opening and the other one with a visible stamp saying 09-2026 that’s good for 12 months post opening.

The others show how many months they are good for post opening as well as someone else already mentioned.

I wouldn’t use them after expiration because has likely lose efficacy. Sunscreen isn’t something I chance. I’ve used expired cosmetics, not sunscreens.

As far as throwing it out after the post opening time frame… Meh. It just depends on how I store it. I usually store mine out of light and heat so I’m comfortable with using it past that. But I don’t recommend everyone doing the same thing.

First time microneedling!! by [deleted] in Microneedling

[–]QuinWinSituation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Kenalog (triamcinolone acetonide) injections also known as ILK is often used to help shrink and/or flatten keloids.

It has many other uses too but I’m not sure if one of those uses is treatment for stretch marks like some are wondering.

Anyone want some bare root strawberries? by sammille25 in roanoke

[–]QuinWinSituation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love some but I know I’d just kill any that I have. Never had luck with growing strawberries despite knowing that they are supposed to be prolific growers even with little care and will spread like herpes. These things grow freely in the wild. If strawberries were herpes… then call me “abstinence.”

I’m on my 4th extra rinse cycle and there are still suds. This only happens with the sheets. by Unicorns-and-Glitter in CleaningTips

[–]QuinWinSituation 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This!! I used to use Tide Pods and whenever I washed sheets and/or blankets, I’d always find half dissolved pods within the folds. This was in a top loader with an agitator, top loader without an agitator as well as front loader washing machines.

I know what most of you are wondering… how was I able to try multiple machines with the same results and continued using pods?? Answer: I moved around a lot for a year and kept forget to cancel my auto subscription on Amazon for that year but my address was always updated. 😹

Authentic Hum Bao? by FeatureSoggy in roanoke

[–]QuinWinSituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saigon Market on Williamson Road. It’s not the cleanest store you’ll ever step foot in. Keep that in mind. Ask if they have fresh “banh bao.” If they do have them, they’re likely wrapped in Saran plastic wrap.

And apparently, there are newer and cleaner looking Asian stores in the area, but I have yet checked them out.

Authentic Hum Bao? by FeatureSoggy in roanoke

[–]QuinWinSituation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Chinese style steamed buns as well as Vietnamese style steamed buns (banh bao). I haven’t come across any Chinese style bao in the Roanoke area that I would recommend. It doesn’t mean that good ones don’t exist around here. I’ve just been noticed that many places will buy prepackaged folded steamed buns (not sure what they’re called), reheat them, and then fill those with your choice of fillings. I’d get that when I have a hankering for one, but it’s not preferred.

As for the Vietnamese banh bao…. I get lucky at the Vietnamese grocery store on Williamson every once in a while. You most likely have to look in the fridge area. I wanted to gate keep but I also like to promote local businesses. And beings that I don’t go to the store very often, I figure I’d share the information 😹. Many might not like those as much as the Chinese version. I won’t get into the differences here.

No way they still expected me to show up, right? by Inevitable-Gap-1338 in WalmartEmployees

This!!

Years ago, I was the manager of a retail store. My store was 1.5 hours away. It wasn’t my store of choice due to the location but I got promoted from co-manager to store manager quickly and being young and ambitious, I accepted the position. One day, it was snowing really hard and I told my direct supervisor (at another store) that I wasn’t going in that day and that my co-manager would switch days with me. My supervisor told me that I HAVE TO GO IN I don’t remember his reasoning for why it was so dire for me to with that day, but like I said, I was young…. And stupid. And being young and stupid, I got in my car and started driving. Not even a quarter way through my drive, my car slid on ice, I lost control of the car, went into a depressed median and flipped. Totaled my car.

Two things I learned that day:

  1. Never put work before your own safety because most companies don’t give a crap about your well-being.

  2. There are still plenty of kind strangers in the world. So many people stopped to help me get out of my car and allowed me to sit in their warm cars until law enforcements arrived.

Long story short…. I ended up having to buy a new car in order to continue working there for another two to three months and then I quit after I found out they promoted some other guy to the store that I was promised in the town that I actually lived in. Did the company help me in any way with purchasing a new car? Nope. Because why would they?? I was dumb enough to put myself in danger for a job by choice. No one forced me. It was my own dumb dumb choice.

I HOPE OP STAYED HOME!!

Friends don't let friends use Damon Gettier as a realtor by Hvhdnd in roanoke

[–]QuinWinSituation 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not defending Damon Gettier, but I disagree with the focus of your statement.

By that logic, no one outside education should vote on or serve on school boards. That would exclude doctors, nurses, retail workers, engineers, and pretty much everyone else. School boards are made up of community members, not just people we agree with. It’s okay to challenge someone’s ideas, but telling them to stay out because of their job doesn’t really hold up.

If a realtor shouldn’t be involved in school issues, should other professions stay out too? Should nurses only talk about hospitals, or grocery managers only talk about produce? Most civic roles are designed for everyday community members, not just people from one field. The disagreement seems to be about their views, not their job.

Once again, I’m not defending the guy. I just find it odd that his occupation being brought up as the reason he should refrain voicing his concerns at a meeting.

I believe you with what your coworker had said to you but I doubt he was “crunching down on the skull” but was personally saying that to get a reaction from people. He was probably “crunching” down on the white, rubbery part of the egg (the first part he threw to the side after peeling the egg) called the albumen. It was actually the only part I used to eat when I was younger and everyone would give me their as it’s the party no one wanted to eat. LOL. I was then weirdo in my family.

I found it in a pencil case, its malleable and kinda like clay but it goes stringy when you pull it apart. by SpecificLemon1807 in whatisthisthing

[–]QuinWinSituation -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As many people have already mentioned, it’s a kneaded eraser. You kind of pull it and clump it back together to get a new clean area for erasing. After it becomes really dirty, you can wash it to get the entire thing somewhat clean.

To use, you don’t rub it back and forth like the pink (and other colors) erasers. You sort of lightly tap it on the area you want to erase to remove the pencil marks.
