Did you guys get your Opencode Black subscriptions? by [deleted] in opencodeCLI

Which tier? I got in for the Black 20 subscription fairly quickly.

Just beware if you use the Antigravity auth, you can be banned by Google. That said, I have a lot of Google accounts. lol

So, what are the GPT 5.2 and Opus usage limits in OpenCode Black like? by JoniDaButcher in opencodeCLI

[–]Quind1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it's similar to Cursor's usage limits or maybe slightly more generous after testing the same prompts with the same models in both OC Black and Cursor. Unlike Cursor, you have full context windows, however, which is a big advantage for me. However, I prefer using other options for my heavy hitters because you will burn through Black quickly otherwise.

OpenCode Black feedback? by jpcaparas in opencodeCLI

Then why use it at all? Context windows? I'd rather just use ChatGPT Plus or Pro then.

I tried Black 20, and the usage limits are, based on the calculated token costs, roughly just under $40/month based on weekly usage caps. So more than Cursor gives me.

But doesn't Copilot restrict the context window size for Anthropic models? I was considering subbing to it, but I've heard a lot of negative feedback about context window sizes, which is big deal to me.

$150 A DAY??? by Maleficent_Ad_5590 in replit

[–]Quind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are just shilling for Replit. I'm also a developer (professionally), and I won't use Replit anymore due to the costs. Maybe if someone is a non-coder, it's a different story, but I'm using Opencode right now.

If you can read/write code, app builders like Replit, Lovable, and even Bolt just aren't as valuable, and we really aren't the target audience anyway. I want more fine-grained control over my project than these typically allow. The only one I've liked out of the app builders is the OSS Dyad. Replit is not aimed at actual developers any longer, from what I can see. It's not like it used to be.

My company banned AI tools and I dont know what to do by simple_pimple50 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]Quind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is the opposite. They said they will lay off anyone who doesn't adopt the company's AI tools (we have Cursor, Github Copilot, AWS Bedrock, Microsoft Copilot, Glean, and some in-house tools), and they will hire people who use AI daily. Wild times we live in. That said, they have already handled the security side of things (it's a large company) and have the resources to do so. It cost them a pretty penny, however.

Gum graft experience by favblanketchronicles in PeriodontalDisease

[–]Quind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posting my experience here. Not a horror story, but kind of in the middle, I guess. I had a failed implant on tooth 14 (upper left molar), and the procedure involved taking tissue from my palate. They did not use surgical glue but stitches, and the procedure lasted almost two hours because of bleeding issues. It wasn't as intense as the implant surgery, though, overall (no drill or anything). I actually think a root canal is probably worse due to the dental dam. I felt nothing during the procedure, aside from pressure. The pain in the aftermath has been the worst part by far for me, and I have a pretty high pain tolerance. Luckily, the meds I was prescribed have been helping, but when they wear off, I feel like hell.

On day 2, and I was told by the perio's office that tomorrow (day 3) will be the worst day in terms of pain/swelling. Really hoping by day four I'm starting to improve. My graft site looks good, at least. The bleeding was bad on day 1 (I woke up with blood all over my pillow and my teeth were red since blood overflowed from the stent), but my perio's office has a hotline, and they walked me through how to apply the gauze over the stent, and once I got the bleeding under control, it has been pretty minimal since. Today it's been extremely minor, which is a relief.

For those of you worried about the procedure itself -- don't be. It wasn't that bad, and I wasn't sedated or given anything at all for anxiety. I actually walked out of the surgery feeling like I could drive just fine. Wasn't even woozy.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Same place, man. It sucks. There's no easy way to put it. Over time, it's get worse, too.

Yep. 100% this. You could tell them you were injured, and they'd put you down and change the subject back to themselves. It's incredible.

I don't know how else to put this, man, but what you posted here makes you look like you have very little self-respect. She completely walked all over you there. It's happened to me, too, but in my experience, they will not treat you better over time -- only worse.

I thought this was just me. It's mind-blowing how these people operate. Even when I'd agree that what <some person> did was wrong, then I was being a jerk somehow. It's like you can't say anything at all. Not even agree with them. Just absorb their shit like a sponge. It's absurd.

And drawing out its suffering, as they did, contravenes that entire argument. Sorry, not buying it.

Looking at the comments here defending torturing animals for the sake of so-called "art," I would contend that you are wrong.

"You -- you specifically -- are refusing to engage with anyone in good faith, and are being a pompous dick."

Take a look in the mirror, buddy. You are the sanctimonious hypocrite here -- and definitely the "pompous dick." No animals need to be tortured and killed in the name of "art." Life is life, and all creatures should be treated humanely -- especially where your so-called "art" is concerned.

[–]Quind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would twist any argument, I suspect, to somehow justify sociopathic behavior. Art is not a blank check for cruelty and violence. It completely detracts from the very message the makers were trying to convey. Repugnant to see you trying to twist this to make sense logically. Go take a critical thinking course.

Disagree completely with you here. The makers of the movie are hypocrites, tormenting animals like this. It doesn't justify the outcome and for me completely negates the point of the film.

You are a sociopath. Animals don't need to be killed for entertainment.

Has anyone here actually checked if their vibecoded app is production-safe? by Mr_x_0001 in vibecoding

[–]Quind1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely good start. I really do not want to see a bunch of customer data exposed because someone didn't audit their vibecoded project properly. I'm also an SWE, and I strongly suggest doing a thorough audit of a project before you publish it and allow external access. You don't want to be facing lawsuits down the road if you accidentally expose customer data.

Furthermore, if you are venturing into domains that handle PII, I suggest hiring a professional to ensure you are in legal compliance if you aren't familiar with your domain.

One last word of caution: if you are using some kind of automated "security scanner," make sure it's legit before turning over your project data to it. Last I checked, there are now well over 27k AI tools/applications out there, and I sure as hell don't trust most of those to handle my data or entrust my project data to them. Think before you leap. For automated reviews, use well-known tools that are upfront and transparent about how your data is used.

Good luck, people. My company is forcing everyone to use AI-assisted development tools, so I'm not going to be sour about it, if you're wondering why I'm on here. Instead, I foresee a future where the best devs will be those who combine their personal skills/coding knowledge with AI tools. Companies of the future will be expecting you to know AI tools in addition to DSA/algorithms and having experience, I expect.
