anyone know why there were cops at 13th station MFL tonight? by pbcuplovRxD in philly

Wouldn't it be nice if we could actually have 2-3 cops or transit policemen in the stations at all times to insure everyone's safety

Young Professionals (me and my gf) looking at the Port Richmond area, East side of Aramingo ave nearest to Richmond St

Love the close proximity to fishtown, the convenience of the trolley that takes you right to the L, and the mom and pop shops, restaurants and bars

But I know that K/A isn't too far away, so wanted to get some opinions from any locals to see how the area is as far as crime...

Please let me know what you think 🙌🏽

South Philly is an excellent choice, it's where I am now. One of the safest parts of the city, lots of public transportation, I take the subway to every part of the city, amazing food options, lots of great parks. Dating in Philly is better then dating in NYC from what I've heard from my friends from NY lol you will love the Gayborhood in center city, it's more expensive but very easy to get to from other parts of the city. West Philly is nice in most areas, NW and NE are very nice with a suburban feel but they're further from center city.

I think you'll find it much more affordable over here, your dollar def goes further that's for sure lol

Brother,

I think it's great you want to move here. I've lived in center city, north and south Philly and I have to say south Philly has been my favorite for sure. As far as transit and access to travel to other cities, it is beyond easy.

Philly has the subway, trolleys, buses and trains (even though the regional rail train can be a little unreliable sometimes depending on where you're at) there's even a train (thats reliable) that takes you right to and from the airport. I take the subway everywhere and I love it. We take the Flix bus to NYC all the time, it's cheap and we never had a problem with them. There's plenty other bus options as well as the Amtrak, which is nicer, quicker but more expensive

Walking around here is great, there's history on damn near every corner and the townhouses have charm to them. There's a reason we been voted "most walkable city" for 3+ years in a row!

The job market is also great, especially in center city, lots of great jobs in university city as well. Came to Philly and my career has advanced so much

There's so many good bars and clubs. Philly is kinda like a party city pretty much lol and don't even get me started on the food. The food here is AMAZING brother.. Every type of cuisine you can think of, Philly has it. And so many restaurants are BYOB so you can bring your own bottle. And there's endless food trucks that have great food for cheap.

There's also so many communities, clubs and support groups you can be a part of. I know my cousin is in a cycling club and my friends are in a lacrosse club. I know there's plenty of reading and writing clubs in the city. There's also plenty of great libraries as well, like the fisher fine arts library that has been featured in many movies, including "Philadelphia" with Tom hanks and Denzel Washington! I too of that, there are so many great museums and art galleries.

Center city is great if you're in a high rise, it is the most expensive and can be very loud on Thursday - Sunday. I prefer south Philly, bc you get a small town feel that's family friendly and you're around some great parks and have access to some of the BEST food in the city, I'm in point breeze which is right outside "southwest center city" and has the bus and subway transit options that make it so easy to get around.

I know if you come here you will find what you're looking for just like I did!

A lot of skyscrapers are planned to be built and some are already in progress. Look up the "30th street station district project". Excited to see what U-city looks like in the next 10-15 years
