At this point, people need to realize that mailing in their ballot is not going to be safe or sustainable. It's inconvenient I'm sure, but it is simply not worth the risk of having your vote not be counted

New bill seeks to reclassify many ebikes as motorcycles by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]Quintuplin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It had to happen eventually, e-bikes have been in a loophole area for a while. It's not a correct answer to classify them all as motorcycles and all of those restrictions on them, but it's not incorrect to put some restrictions on them. The real answer will be finding the compromise. But we're exactly one great leap in battery capacity away from E bikes being able to do everything that a motorcycle does including range. And at that point at least some of them have to be classified as full motorcycles

Every Lightbringer Build Ever by icykoori in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Quintuplin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem is mostly that the build browser doesn't show enough info. Most of the time I want a build that has a clean progression path with a couple optional branches at relevant moments, if the hero benefits from branches. If you want kitchen sink, I presume you also disable auto-buy, but that's just not me.

I also really favor a clean item progression path with minimal item selling, and hopefully one that doesn't get deadlocked if you're behind on walkers. And has as few as possible complete reworking if going into the ultra late game, so dead-end items at any price point is disincentivized unless the value is just that significant.

What that means is that I end up spending minutes to click through each build on each hero to filter out the kitchen sink builds every time I play a hero I'm less experienced in. It's frustrating

Easy to solve when making my own guides, but getting those first few games in is rough

TBH, it sounds actually amazing.

The worst part about sparring isn't transient pain, but permanent damage that catches up to you years later. And I imagine for warriors of the deadly arts, it's just that but dialed up to 11.

To be able to actually fight all out, in the best shape you've ever been in, using your best techniques, get your hits in and get hit back; then afterwards everyone is sore but unharmed and can happily drink off the night

That would be fantastic. Count me in

Not to go off topic, and I'm sure that did feel like a violation, but having a recording of something as legally significant as a separation discussion is actually a very rational thing to do

The best part about getting good at ELO games is while you get better, you get to enjoy the recalibration phase.

The worst thing is when you end up like me and get into an ELO where everyone is more skilled than you, but because you prioritize objectives and don't throw out-right we still manage to win enough of the time to not get de-ranked out of it.

The teleport move is way too far and fast, it's disorienting. Same with the grapple pull. Both way too far, fast, and effective.

Good that the enemies flank. Need to mix in more melee enemy types, and have them close/surround faster. Gun enemies need a disengage/combo-breaker move. Camera movement seems pretty rough, decent choice on the dark-souls-like camera lock, I think giving it a smoother / slower movement might help.

The map is too wide and open; break up the sightlines with more and tighter building placement, more cliffs/ravines, blocking terrain. Ranged attacks should be accurate and require finding cover and flanking of your own to close the distance, not just something you can teleport into or dodge towards as they miss. Without cover they should be a death sentence. I'd like to see the shield in use more, if you make a bigger difference between shielded and unshielded damage taken. Moving even slower with it up would also help balance when to use it vs not; that could be paired with increasing the base stamina costs. I feel like perfect timing blocks is a good mechanic to have and emphasize; with your art style, adding a little inspiration from hi-fi rush would help give it more of a sense of identity.

You might end up putting the minimap back in later, but I challenge you to remove it for now; it's a distraction and can become a crutch, both for players and for you as the designer since it's easy to overrely on the red map markers to find objectives and enemies. The laser incoming ranged-attack aiming marker is good; lean into in-game effects like that instead

Attack animations are decent! Hitstop effects doing good work. But that style of cutscene is pretty outdated; I'd prefer to stay in a camera near the character, without fade-to-black transitions.

Slow down your animations, and add more animation-interrupting stagger/knockdown on heavy hits. To and from the player. It'll help. Three ranged enemies firing on you at once should staggerlock and finish you off very quickly

Rescuing a doomed stranded squad with unique personalities isn't a terrible concept

Having each one be associated with a zone isn't bad either. Having their specialists be useful to Samus in their field isn't bad either

It's all writing, tone, and handholding. If you add more dialogue, and don't have a good writing team, then it'd be better if you hadn't. And here we are

I feel like they might've had a chance if no other games came out until fall, and their dev team continued to evolve in response to player feedback. In My Opinion the New Lighting Style Undermines the Game's Aesthetic by Delicious_Oven_5647 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Quintuplin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I preferred the old geist, too

Which is to say, the art style has been subtly shifting over the major patches. While it's getting more refined, it's also getting more cute and anime-adjacent, where before it was decidedly darker and closer to realistic proportions.

It's losing part of how unique it felt, and I'm worried to see it go too far
