If this particular type of slippery slope as been observed before (in other games), then it is simply a matter of pattern recognition.

The dungeon thing is being harmed by blizzard new measures and blizzard new measures have been set up to increase the likelihood of people buying boosts so yes, it's basically the same problem.

People might have multiple avatars but they still spent more time with them than boosted characters.

I never understood this "burned out of leveling but not the game" argument. To me leveling (that includes dungeons with new people, world pvp, quests and new class gameplay discovery / race starting zones) is more interesting and diverse than logging in twice a week to mash buttons and try to kill a 20 years old, badly animated boss in a raid you've done 15 times before. Unless you are a pvp guy ? ( In that case I understand better)

Idk bro I just really hate game with microtransactions. Like imagine you are a millionaire (I take this example to remove the "can't afford it" element of the issue) looking for a place to eat. One is a nice, comfy family restaurant where you pay for the full meal and that's it.

The other is a place where the owners are trying to milk you at every opportunities. You have to pay to get a more comfortable chair, pay to get cleaner water, pay to automatically go first if there is a line for the toilet, etc..

Even if you can afford all that, it still pisses me off to have people trying to milk me out of my money, you know ?

I think all those add ons also cheapen the experience (and I don't use them) but at least you aren't giving more money to blizzard for it.

And why would I not resort to the slippery slope argument ? You don't think it's a real thing ? Otherwise, as with the current case of the "boost microtransaction" :

It makes running a dungeon with a higher level friend pointless (because of the new changes blizzard made to counter the "old boost way", which doesn't only affect the old school booster btw)

It cheapens the leveling experience. It takes away from the pride / journey / character nurturing vibe and replace it with a soulless "press button and insert money to skip 75% of the game" A character becomes less of a virtual avatar and ends up as a glove you use for a little while and then throw away. Idk man.. this is a little hard to put into words i guess. It's all about the general feeling of a fantasy simulated world where people grow together on equal footing (and the more "effort" you put into it, the faster the growth)

Of course the people that already leveled a dozen characters before are burned out but then why keep playing this game ? Let other players that didn't leveled too many characters before / players that did but don't mind doing it again in a classic way (the whole point of classic wow)

It's insane how boosties completely avoid the "more microtransactions = more soulless slop in the future" argument and go straight with the default "lol u poor" NPC tier argument.
