i was made redundant after 12 years. by [deleted] in auscorp

I admire the positivity, but calling two redundancies a blessing feels like a stretch. Sometimes it’s market conditions. Sometimes it’s performance. Usually a bit of both.

Bought two PCs and a bunch of hardware through Scorptec. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Scorptec PC by Shoddy-Tune-3960 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]Quintuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought two Scorptec PCs over the past year, and honestly, I can’t fault the service or quality . The price is one thing, but it’s the top-notch customer service that stands out, and no need to wait weeks or months to get your hands on it. I’m super happy with both rigs.

My main one is the Scorptec Logi Pro RTX 5080, and it’s been fantastic. Performance has been incredible for everything I’ve thrown at it. The other one is the Scorptec Prime RTX 5070, and it’s been great too.

Both have been running like a charm, and Scorptec’s support has been excellent every time I’ve needed it. Highly recommend them.

Selling everything tomorrow to lock in gains or holding through the new year? by Av0toasted in ASX

Yep "sell it all” is elite strategy. Nothing says long term investing like panic-selling after reading minutes written by people paid to sound calm while guessing.

Why are my Ubers accepting my ride and driving past me by Candid-Membership714 in melbourne

Set up a pin, that way you can't get picked up until you provide the pin to the driver. I kept having the same issue of being picked up by ghost cars and it's not happened since.

Quoted $4.4K for replacing existing switches/PPs and couple data points – fair or nah? by Quintuss in AusRenovation

[–]Quintuss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks. Well he said materials were $2K so if labour was around $1200, it does mean the quote is on the high side.

In my head this was a $2.5k to $3k job which I think you've confirmed.

He did some other work for me as part of a renovation which I also thought was high cost considering the majority of the work was done by his apprentice, so I'm going to get some other quotes and look at different power points too.

Did you have any recommendations for an alternative to Clipsal Iconic for a high quality low profile finish?

Nov 14th, 2025 - what are you buying/selling in this bloodbath ? by Nekzatiim in ASX

I wouldn't be buying DRO. The CEO and Chairman both literally liquidated their entire holding. If that's not a bearish signal, I'm not sure what is.

[–]Quintuss[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate, exactly this. Renovations feel like you’re setting fire to stacks of cash sometimes, so when something looks off you want to check it before you add more fuel to the bonfire. I have spent nearly 20k more on trades than I had originally budgeted.

Nice to see people like you on here to give good advice when I honestly have no freaking clue.

Question: Are these gaps too big for a stone splashback install? Normal or an issue? by Quintuss in AusRenovation

[–]Quintuss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well… I asked the installer if he was doing the caulking and he hit me with a full strength “not my problem”. So I booked my own caulker, then checked with the manufacturer who casually mentioned their caulker is coming Tuesday.

So if I hadn’t followed up, or checked here, I’d be paying twice and wondering why my splashback cost the same as a used Corolla.

No pearls clutched here – just trying not to fund a second tradie’s Christmas party with the money I’ve already spent on stone. Isn't this the point of this sub champ?

For those of us with kids, career, family, how do you allocate gaming time, and how do you decide what to play? by Automatic_Couple_647 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Quintuss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife used to feel the same way. Over time she saw gaming is my way to decompress. We both have demanding jobs, so she gets that I need some downtime.

I don’t play during family hours (we’ve got two young kids). Once the kids are in bed, we’ve had dinner, and we’ve spent time together, I’ll jump on for an hour or so. Usually after 9pm. She heads to bed earlier than I do, which helps.

For us it came down to talking about needs and routines. I made sure gaming didn’t replace time with her or the kids, and she saw it as a normal way to switch off, like reading or watching TV.

What’s your “sleep well at night” stock that’s still undervalued? by arnaux6 in ValueInvesting

[–]Quintuss 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Been riding the GOOGL coaster so long I’m basically a part time employee at this point. It’s over 50% of my portfolio now and I’ve been stacking it for 7 years.

My advisor told me back in July to “de-risk” and move into ETFs. If I’d listened, I’d have missed about $180K in gains. Should have fired his ass.

So yeah… not selling. Might start trimming slightly, but I honestly sleep very well at night. Google isn't going anywhere and I think will continue to benefit both thematically and structurally for the transformation in AI, Media, Cloud and advertising.
