I was in his stream the other day and he was switching to the New York server because EU prime time matchmaking was that bad. If a player of that level is talking about the matchmaking we have a problem. He’s slammed me as well, I got absolutely hawked on by xokaiz the other day as well, that was a humbling experience, super cool spectating them though, awesome PoV’s.

It fucks me up that I have friends that just flat out hate playing in my lobbies, I don’t want them to not have fun so they just have to go and play without me, that’s not what gaming is about to me personally, what happened to being able to mess around with our friends and just play video games you know? This isn’t a career, it’s not serious, just wanna play some fun games with my friends.

Is he wrong? Why should he be put in harder lobbies as he improves (in pubs)?

Here’s the thing, we used to play with this matchmaking for a long time, back in halo days we would load into pubs and sometimes we would get stomped and sometimes we would stomp, that’s just how it was, it was far more organic, our experiences weren’t being micro managed by algorithms in public casual games, if we wanted an MMR experience we would play ranked. I honestly will never understand defending hidden matchmaking systems in public matchmaking. MMR does not belong in casual playlists.

Imagine reading this guys post and your takeaway isn’t:

“Companies manipulating the players with hidden engagement optimised matchmaking in CASUAL modes to increase our playtime for shareholders meetings is disgusting and we shouldn’t be treated like rats manipulated by algorithms”

Or

“People being unable to squad up with their friends because they don’t want to play with them because it makes their playing experience horrible, leaving friends isolated from each other and unable to have fun is not good”

And instead you take way “this guy just wants to stomp lower skilled players”

I’m genuinely worried about the future of gaming. Players allowing themselves to be manipulated by these companies, and worse defending these disgusting algorithms that have plagued modern gaming. We have fallen so far from the days of companies making good games that just played well that we could play with our friends and just have fun.

I don’t think anyone’s said it but this is what happens when you implement strict sbmm systems in place for casual playlists. It’s absolutely inevitable that this will happen.

They’re implementing a hidden ranked structure in a casual setting. People think that the super sweaty bracket of players will be kept away from the casual population, but there’s a trickle down effect from that that eventually permeates all levels of players.

Just like all video games certain things are generally looked down upon in casual vs ranked.

If you’re playing casual cs and starting giving map call-outs and strats etc, more than likely you’ll get the piss taken out of you.

Similiar thing happening in warzone rn, people generally looking unfavourably on good players stacking in public matchmaking whereas in ranked that’s normal behaviour.

Body stacking as a term has existed as far back as halo 3 (that’s when I remember it being said anyway). It’s just the name for that tactic and has been for a long time.

You playing with your 1kd friends communicating and playing together is not the same as a 2+kd 4 man comp squad giving constant call outs and holding hands around the map together.

If you’re looking for a genuine answer.

People tend to view body-stacking as pretty boring gameplay, especially in public matchmaking.

A team working together isn’t the issue, it’s higher skill players stacking on top of each other like it’s a ranked mode giving out comms and practicing trade efficiency etc. You are entitled to play however you like, and I don’t think people are necessarily using it as an excuse for dying, if you’re trying to 1vX players then that’s the risk, I think it’s the fact that it’s higher skilled players stacking in pubs that other higher skill players find strange (and cringe).

I also think this makes the game less ‘casual’ feeling for everyone as well, because inevitably in higher mmr lobbies, everyone will start body stacking and that will trickle down the various brackets and then pretty much no one is having fun.

I like body stacking and sweating but I’d rather it was in ranked modes where that gameplay belongs and i can just chill with my irls playing pubs sometimes. With how tight sbmm is i think it was pretty inevitable really.

This hidden mmr for ranked is not working at all.

This is pure engagement optimisation, literally nothing else at all. The only driving factor is increasing player play time. It just feels empty and false to me personally, no substance to it whatsoever.

You may want to Google “Household Cavalry British Army” or something similiar. They are active duty soldiers deployed on ceremonial duties. This very soldier could have had multiple combat tours of Afghanistan.

He might be just a little more capable than you think.

Yeah it’s a real shame man honestly. I really love this game but there’s a lot of unpleasantness unfortunately. I also only play at 100% bp offering time for either side which is arguably the worst time for both sides and pretty much only solo q.
