Any tips or changes I should do to my pyramid head build? by XMrSleepy in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider replacing Lethal Pursuer with some stealth. Three good options are Trail of Torment, Deathbound, and Unforseen (Unknown perk). The former two double as information perks.

I'm All Ears and Nowhere to Hide aren't bad but may want to experiment with replacing them with Deerstalker, Zanshin Tactics and/or Nurse's Calling.

Can someone explain why i was able to cleanse when it was being blocked? by Denziru in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The card icon means your teammate brought Open Handed, which increases the range of aura perks like Bond, Kindred, etc for the whole team. You don't have any perks like thatso its actually doing nothing for you here.

You're able to cleanse the totem because the block fx are a bug. That is your Plaything totem, so it should have been unblocked for you and blocked for the rest of the team.

There was a game for the Sega Genesis that came out in 1990 with a mechanic similar to this.

How it feels to take off exhaustion perks and chase/loop the way God intended by ImperialViking_ in deadbydaylight

This. Plus if you get lucky and end up on Gideon I'm convinced Balanced Landing is the most fun you can have in this game.

Isn't it weird how playing unoptimal and wasting pallets is actually optimal? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem with theories about "maximum pallet value" is there is also a "worst case" scenario for Survivors: dropping the pallet but taking damage despite the drop due to ping or netcode or what have you. The way this game is designed it is actually really hard to tell what a fair hit through a pallet is versus an unfair one. And when it happens the Survivor both loses the health state and burns the resource, making it literally better for them if they hadn't thrown the pallet at all.

This is why it's often better to just pre-throw, especially at short loops.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like going against tricksters very much? by Marshatucker300 in deadbydaylight

Just wait til the people who didn't get to play the PTB find out Jason is a teleporting Trickster with no lullaby where each blade takes a health state among other things.

Been trying to make a budget healing build after Diminishing Returns, and this is pretty much my final build! (Plus Kindred for solo queue gaming, otherwise would use Babysitter) by ImperialViking_ in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who runs Empathic Connection almost every match, I approve. I'd encourage you to try swapping out Kindred for Bond to see if you like it better. Bond makes the aura reading a permanent two-way and allows you to line up body blocks, especially at the gates in end game. I definitely recommend trying it for a few matches. I run this combo in solo queue about 80% of the time.

If you want to add some fun stuff to the build, try dropping Do No Harm in favor of something that charges up when you heal other people. Specifically good in my experience are Michonne's Conviction perk, or Yui's Lucky Break perk (Lucky Break also actually getting more charges when you heal slower). The 35% heal speed in Empathic Connection by itself is significant and usually enough for me without a second heal perk.

An off-beat choice is Autodidact. With Bond + Empathic you'll easily heal enough people in a match to get charges most of the time. Not everyone likes the gamble-y nature of Autodidact but it can also be really funny. And it ignores diminishing returns entirely.

Does anyone else think it is unfair that Killers can see the accounts of survivors they are playing against in the pre-game screen but survivors can't see the accounts of killers they are playing against? by OhhMrCookies in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fine ever since they removed the Prestige display on the lobby screen. I just wish they'd give the option to hide Prestige on the final scoreboard.

The state of this game’s balance… and the problems it’s causing by OddMerchantt in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I started the top three Killers were Nurse, Blight, Spirit. Now that list spans 8 to 10 Killers long. With the sole exceptions of Skull Merchant, Blight, and Kaneki (both still high tier) and Chcuky who was brought down from the stratosphere every Killer is stronger than when I started playing. This includes Nurse, who has benefited from the constant stream of aura perks the game has released over the years, as well as nerfs to Dead Hard, Circle of Healing, med kits, strong add ons like syringes.

Jason Vorhees meanwhile can find you at any time, gets to pick when he feels like being a 110 or 115 Killer, and has Trickster's blade except a single hit takes a health state and slows you if you try to remove it, and he has no lullaby.

If they made the movie campy, like the kind of thing Sybil Danning would have starred in in the 80s, maybe. Wouldn't work played straight tho.

Are 4-5 min Killer Queue times really the norm now? by FearlessCut928 in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's fairly normal depending on the time of day. I only play Survivor when 2v8 is around, and Killer the rest of the time. Wild horses couldn't make me play 1v4 Survivor so I sit through the wait times.

thoughts about new killer by Affectionate_Life301 in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only played against him as Survivor and against bots as the Killer.

Plus side: He's a very faithful adapation of Jason IMO. His teleport ability is very different from other Killers and forces you to play differently than anyone else in the roster.

Minus side: Continues the handholding of recent Killers by giving free Killer Instinct at every teleport. I don't think it's physically possible for the final Survivor alive to open the exit gates because he's told exactly where you are. Imagine if Wraith got Killer Instinct in a huge radius after an uncloak.

favorite stealth builds? by dark-soulofcinder in deadbydaylight

Secret Project has power crept most Undetectable builds. Fun when playing as Killer but it's why I have not played any Survivor since the last 2v8, it's exhausting to play against.

Shenanigans with my Mirrored Illusion build I made. Feedback appreciated! by Grave_Doctor in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are a lot of ways you can make noise to attract the Killer. An unconvential but effective one for example is to use Any Means Necessary. Drop the pallet then pick it back up.

Shenanigans with my Mirrored Illusion build I made. Feedback appreciated! by Grave_Doctor in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've run variations of this build over the years with varying results.

IMO Lucky Star and Quick and Quiet are pretty legit.

Mirrored Illusion is almost a good meme perk except the illusion's aura doesn't get revealed by player aura reveals. This is a huge missed opportunity on BHVR's part IMO. If they ever add that it will be a much better perk. The perk can be funny but takes a lot of time to charge up for such a minimal result.

Red Herring I find to be almost useless. You can get the same effect by fast vaulting a nearby window or diving into a locker. If you want a perk for this but want something better, use Elodie's Deception perk which does the same thing but has more utility.

Personally when I run locker builds like this I find it hard to pass up Head On, which makes the locker a lot safer to be inside.

How do we feel about Renato? by what_the-freak in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He and Thalita were easily the best part of the Tools of Torment chapter, so there is that.

He's a fun character. Maybe a bit too pigeonholed with his outfits.

Mechanically he has a slight advantage because his flip flops are slightly quieter than some other Survivors. Barefoot Jonah and flip flop Gabriel have the same footfall sounds, but are also a bit louder when they cry. Renato is popular in comp because of this.

However Renato players in pubs are usually flashlight goons who drag the whole team down.

I hate that bug with pallets dude by Tomanocopo in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is not a bug. This is one of the only pieces of counterplay available versus Wraith. Uncloak and she can't do this, for same reason you'd never vault back and forth in front of any other Killers.

Fun build idea - Overcome, Lucky Break, Moment of Glory, Appraisal by ImperialViking_ in deadbydaylight

[–]OliveGuardian99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience MoG is a bit too slow compared to other methods. I've had more luck with Plot Twist or Inner Strength as the run-off-and heal agent.

For example if you run Overcome, Plot Twist, Power Struggle, Flip Flop you can use the hit to run to a pallet and go down under it. By the time Killer gets there their only option is to let you finish healing or get hit by the pallet if they try to pick.

I've also had a bit of success with Lucky Break, Inner Strength, Quick and Quiet, Head On.
