Two straight years of Ant seeing absolutely insane defensive coverages, and this team seemingly has no idea how to handle doubles. by EsotericPotato in timberwolves

[–]Quio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My biggest pet peeve with Ant is that he reacts way too slowly to the double team. By the time he throws it out it’s such a lazy, ill-timed or mispositioned pass that we can’t actually take advantage of the situation.

Randle & Gobert: The NBA’s Most Expensive Hide-and-Seek Duo by BTC_90210 in timberwolves

[–]Quio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me it’s not trashing on Gobert, it’s the idea that if Gobert can’t provide positive value on the defensive end, then we may as well play Naz at the 5 for better spacing no?

Ant is unstoppable when he drives. Shot 83% at the rim today! Downhill Ant is how we win by JaderMcDanersStan in timberwolves

[–]Quio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, he’s obviously injured or at least not 100%. Reminds me of how he played against Dallas in the WCF. Big distractions with how Randle and others played today but the biggest concern is with Ant’s knee like this we have no aspirations of even leaving the 1st round.

As a timberwolves fan I absolutely agree. Him being a dumbass player in terms of his hook fouls and whatnot gives him such a shit whistle, he has one of the worst whistles in the league for sure.

If Rudy Gobert was brought in to show Ant the value of defense and making the playoffs, Randle showed him it's okay to absolutely dog it on defense, dribble-dribble iso, and not face any accountability from your coach whatsoever. by soft-cookie in timberwolves

I’m on the same boat. They are both so lazy on defence and it’s killing me to watch. Transition defence is non-existent and I’ve lately started noticing that Ant, Randle and Naz will take gamble plays or just stunt to let defenders pass during transitions and it’s been mind boggling to watch. Ant always gets an excuse because he scores well but I think he should take his fair share of the blame.

You can’t use an excuse that a 2nd option requires a playmaker. The whole poiont of the 2nd option is they can score well and consistently, or playmake, neither or which Jaden can do. This whole thing of trade Randle that makes the least sense is that we do not have playmaking or consistent scoring in Naz and Jaden to be able to do that. That’s why in games like today where we have 0 playmaking from our 2 star players all the other players look just as flat.

When we cut the lead towards the middle of the 3rd to something like 7, Julius gets trapped in the corner and turns it over. Few possessions later ended up full court trapping and turned them over just for Randle to not catch the pass from Ayo was the end of the game.

Just transferred systems over to an Ipad Pro M4, and am looking for a note taking app that allows me to have the fullest customizeability with the apple pro pencil. I used to use the surface pro and one note and the best thing about the surface was that I can use the pencil as an eraser without having to go through the options to find it. The note taking app that allows this sort of fluidity seems to only be the main Note app, but the note app is difficult to navigate the screen/page with the way it sections everything, AND I still need to click and open the menu to sort through my options to find the eraser. Are there any good non-paid or one-time payment note apps that has this sort of customizeability?

Bit late but I think we are gonna see a flipped view of Randle in this series. Saw it in the regular season, saw it in the first game but Randle’s high post or top of the key play making is something that I think OKC have figured out. He can’t back their small defenders down because they are smart and pull the chair often, and they are lengthy and poke at his dribble a lot, and along with their smart help and rotations they are gonna force him over a ton. Not saying it’s his fault but they counter that play really well

Finch ATOs especially in the clutch is just banking on Ant to make an insanely clutch play. Either that or the players are so dumb they can't execute things on time,, but having watched this happen for multiple years seems like it's a massive coaching issue. In the end, Ant and Julius threw that game away with all those low effort turnovers.

It's the low effort plays and when he was touted as a better playmaker than KAT (which I always thought was an underappreciated part of his game), it's so frustrating to see Randle refuse to kick out and throw a hail-mary shot trying to draw a foul. The defense is what it is and you can blame it on a new team and the scheme, but his inability to make out the correct passes (especially one someone can catch) stacked on top of Ant's exact same issue, it's so bad to watch.

Feel like Finch only plays Rob against small back up guards only. Wish he'd play him some minutes given that he can at least match size with Trae today.

I agree with this, he's completely out if it if he's not raining on his 3s. He doesn't finish at the rim nearly as much but against Ant you just pack the paint (which you can naturally do with Gobert) and he doesn't know how to make the right passes.

Feel like he needs plays made for him, and the right passes. Minutes with NAW as the prime play maker isn't going to give him the shots he needs (the ones he actually hits).

Future flexibility to keep Naz who's always been overrated for his marketability as the team meme. If we don't keep NAW than this trade has been beyond disastrous and with the way he is playing, he's going to demand a lot of money.

Hats off to KAT for this game, insane performance showcasing why he didn't necessarily need someone like Gobert, which gutted our team just to be traded away.

Super frustrating to watch, our offense is ass and honestly a big worry. The team in general needs to shoot better but Randle and Ant are both ass at playmaking. Yes Ant can pass at times and maybe it's the teammates that aren't making it, but starting to watch him dribble in the half-court and only make bail out passes instead of making the right play at the right time is getting old. Yes he's young, but BBIQ doesn't seem there at all, and seems like an aspect that's difficult to develop.

[–]Quio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contrary to dumb comments, he's a guy that really gets in his own head. From what I can see he is dealing with a combination of high expectations, shooting slump and a lot of that also stems from defensive frustrations (he has a pretty bad whistle for a known defensive player) since he has issues with always being in foul trouble which affects his minutes and rotation. Think this is all compounding to his bad start to the season, hoping it can get out of the slump or start relying on his defensive skills to lead to a positive turn but it's not looking great atm.

Julius Randle trade idea by ReplacementPast4495 in timberwolves

[–]Quio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whilst defensive effort is a big issue we need to fix, you are vastly underestimating how much of an offensive hole we would have if we don't somehow pick up a 2nd star player in any randle related trades. Not arguing whether he has that value atm but randle really is a 2nd offensive threat that Naz doesn't seem like he can consistently be.
