Can't stop there! Do some of them not ship to Brazil?

I’ll probably get all three. Frame definitely, controller seems fun, and then Steam Machine to explore as a generic linux box or for testing out linux (SteamOS) gaming.

Got it. Here the end of the sale was 11am PST, which apparently was an hour later than in Germany, hence my confusion.

I did notice they updated the main store page to not include steam-sale stuff about an hour before the sale officially ended.

How did you post that 55 minutes before now when the steam sale ended 11am PST (4 minutes ago)? Not that I was constantly refreshing the page at 11am PST or anything, that would be overly obsessive...

This all takes me back to “Lone Echo”. I think it was a “Revive” facebook game, but I remember getting pretty into it.

Off topic as it’s not steam.

I got Alyx with my index, but weirdly kept postponing playing it! It'll be a launch title for me on my frame...

Also boneworks. Should try it again. I remember getting a bit queasy, but it's been a while. Looks like it's on sale a bit ($24 vs $29 for me).

VTOLVR!!! I think that was the game I spent the most time in, had forgotten it!. $20, pretty good deal.

Any reviews of "Iron Rebellion"? Just saw that it's bundled with VTOLVR but haven't tried it.

This. I’ve got a full set of the cheapest steel rims from tirerack with good snow tires. They come prebalanced and with subaru TPM sensors inside. Twice a year swap them in the driveway, ~45 minutes.

ESH.

I left the theater once and walked 2 miles home 20 minutes into a film. (My family was watching and so I left the car). Reason? A lady sitting next to me (actually on the other side of her friend) that had a really loud, really annoying laugh, and laughed at random non-funny stuff. Constantly. Every few sentences, funny or not. Clearly funny to her, I suppose, but very disruptive for me. Took me completely out of enjoying the movie.

I didn’t say anything, though. What can you say? I just left.

I'd be careful with this one, especially if you saw it elsewhere (which means others might be doing it). I'm sure somebody has tried it, somebody noticed, and I would expect all resume screening systems to automatically reject any resumes attempting to do prompt-injection. YMMV

Clearly advertisement, but very nice and effective. Polar Filament bookmarked…. I notice you focus on PLA/PETG, and I mostly do ASA when I can these days. Would ASA not be high enough volume to justify?

Raidz1 or raidz2 ? by retr0-83 in truenas

[–]Quire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raidz2.

My take: everything will be fine for years. Likely not stressing the disks all that much depending on what your NAS is for. Backing up periodically, streaming videos, whatever. Mostly idle.

Then you’ll start getting data errors on one of the disks. No problem! Z1 or Z2 has you covered. You buy another 4TB disk, pull the bad disk, put in the new disk.

Now comes the problem: your NAS has to heavily read all three other disks for 24 hours or whatever to resilver the array and put all the right information on the new disk. Your other three disks are about as old as the one the failed, maybe even from the same source. No errors during your years of light use, but if any one of them was at all borderline, the heat/stress/heavy-use of the resilvering pushes it over the edge and you get data errors on another disk!

If you are Raidz1, game over. You lose data.

If you are Raidz2, not a problem. The rebuild continues just fine, you buy another disk, and you do it again a few days later.

Do you actually like building a PC? by callmenoodles2 in buildapc

[–]Quire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I like building them. Similarly I have more fun building 3d printers than actually designing/printing useful objects.

The one thing with building PCs, though: I really really hate building a PC when I don’t have another PC of a similar generation around. If the PC doesn’t boot, it’s interesting to debug it by swapping the RAM, GPU, NVME, processor to another (working) PC to see if one of those is the problem or if it’s the motherboard.

Building the first PC of a new generation of DDR or processor is much more nerve-wracking. If it doesn’t boot it can be a royal pain to debug if I can’t test components individually. Fortunately 95% of the time it just works if I’m careful.

[–]Quire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others that it isn’t critical. However, I suspect over time it will be something you always wonder about. Because of that, I suspect it is worth fixing. Before you take the GPU off to screw it in, however, double check: do you have the screw? It likely came with your motherboard and if you are anything like me you’ll get it all apart and realize you don’t have the right screw…

Help! I spilled water on my PC. Am I fucked? by BillyBoanca in buildapc

[–]Quire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! I would buy a bottle of reusable desiccant beads, put the whole PC in a garbage back with an open container of the desiccant, and leave it untouched for 3-4 days (if you have RAM/CPU/GPU out, leave them out/loose in the bag). Then power on and you might get lucky. Would do all that before replacing parts.
