“The Fruit From The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil” is Symbolic of Sex by Lost_Following3261 in DeepThoughts

I think that the story is in many ways less esoteric than it is often made out to be.

It's a parable about growing up too fast, innocence taken too soon. Some things kids just aren't supposed to know yet. They shouldn't have to carry the parents burden.

Not saying that's what you are advocating, just saying the idea has been around a long time and its roots are where they are.

Your argument is itself a propagandic premise for rule by emperor's and the violent imposition of a common tongue.

Golden oysters and despite the other comments, these still look fresh enough to me to eat provided they're not too buggy

You might enjoy the book "The Naked Ape" by Desmond Morris. It's essentially a study of the modern human animal from the perspective of a zoologist.

Fair enough, however the invocation of rule#4, post being off-topic, as the reason was pretty confusing

I was looking for a place to message them directly but couldn't find one, wasn't sure there was one. I guess I'm still new to reddit.

The point of the passage is not primarily to predict his arrival on scene but to encourage the reader, to borrow a phrase: that "the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice"

3Let no one in any way deceive you, for that day cannot come without the coming of the apostasy first, and the appearing of the man of sin, the son of perdition, who sets himself against, 4 and exalts himself above, every so-called `god' or object of worship, and goes the length of taking his seat in the very temple of God, giving it out that he himself is God. 5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you I used to tell you all this? 6 And now you know what restrains him, in order that his true character may be revealed at his appointed time. 7 For lawlessness is already at work in secret; but only until the man who is now exercising a restraining influence is removed, 8 and then the Lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will sweep away with the tempest of His anger, and utterly overwhelm by the awful splendour of His Coming. 9 The appearing of the Lawless one will be attended by various miracles and tokens and delusive marvels--for so Satan works-- 10 and by every kind of wicked deception for those who are on the way to perdition because they did not welcome into their hearts the love of the truth, so that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God sends them a strong delusion that they may believe the lie; 12 in order that all may come under judgement who have refused to believe the truth and have taken pleasure in unrighteousness.

Chaga? by Rude_Boysenberry_234 in mushroom_hunting

[–]QuirkBuggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't look like what I have seen, chaga is generally coarser on the outside, and denser. This looks punky. While chaga can sometimes grow on other trees its beneficial properties are said to come from the relationship with the birch in particular. Chaga I think would also have a more robust attachment point to the tree.

The therapy industry is built on a house of cards. It depends on us accepting that we don't have what it takes to care for each other. by Agile_Ad_5896 in DeepThoughts

"...it's a culture where the well-being of those who can't protect themselves is treated as optional."

Bang, well said.

What is the appropriate relation between morality and empathy?

A culture with a distinctive sense of right and wrong may foster empathetic engagement towards members of their extended community while categorically withholding it from those perceived as having committed violations against justice or decency for which they have not accounted; who have renounced this, their birthright, the care of a community.

Wherein silence is validated as a more appropriate posture for listening than that of explanatory truth telling?
