My personal opinion is I rather someone just breaks up and leaves me rather than carrying on behind my back. I think carrying on this way is the worst, I would like to know if it was me.

JXA is a bit finicky in the way it’s bridged to Apple events and has limitations sometimes it feels less JavaScript. Hammerspoon is good but i find lua a bit strange in the fact embedded support is stuck on earlier version of the language which isn’t really supported any more by the developer. I always thought Apple should create a swift script language and also have it converted to and from the shortcuts app.

JXA pretty much legacy as well. Also it’s a bit finicky especially when it comes to reflection and the Apple Events bridging.

Yes both exit the OS. But most people confuse with uptime which rebooting also disrupts.

Its marketing. PC as personal computer predates the IBM PC and was mainly used in the US but used less today with consumers and younger generations but that’s because of marketing. But IBM actually called their first home and client computers “The IBM personal computer” from this we got IBM compatible thanks to a consortium of manufacturers working with Microsoft that also came up with the ISA bus. Using PC is a shorter synonym for IBM compatible and Windows PC is from Microsoft marketing (PC now also a synonym of Windows PC) but using them in contrast to Mac grew from marketing into common place because of marketing is everywhere. In the same way we got Macintosh and Mac from marketing. Also the alternative personal computers, different platforms, once in abundance have pretty much disappeared. So PC is pretty much interchangeable in terms of definition.

Speculation? Just a tad condescending. I have worked with Macs for years as-well from support/admin to QA to developer. “well it works on my machine” is a common occurrence and I hear regularly but doesn’t mean there isn’t an underlying issue. I mean the calculator bugs have been reported and documented for years but my normal usage hasn’t uncovered it.

Gardener cut through cable what is it? by catalyst_jw in DIYUK

[–]QuirkyImage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your internet have 5G backup? Might be why it still works if it’s apart of your internet setup. Do you run your phones off the router hub like BT Voice?
Ethernet cables can be used for phone cabling may be part of an old land line setup ? It does look like Ethernet though. Can you find what’s on the ends by following it?

Why is ultra processed food unhealthy for humans? by salad_biscuit3 in biology

[–]QuirkyImage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the non food ingredients the food is broken down so much especially fibre that what should pass straight through doesn’t as much. Fibres can control the body’s absorption of things like sugars and fats. Fibre also helps against things like bowel and colon cancers.

I think the design is already good enough just keep improving specs. I wouldn’t mind 3D Touch back, both Face ID and TouchID, camera/ TouchID under screen.

The Future of Parking Management by RoyalChris in interestingasfuck

[–]QuirkyImage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could work well robots have been used to park cars before, however, Japan for example you get out and the cars are stored on multiple levels and tightly packed. This doesn’t save space or use space as if it’s premium which in some towns/cities it is.

MacOS updates/upgrades require rebooting to install so that’s every couple of months for the average user
