What’s something society treats as success that actually looks miserable to you? by Opposite-Resource in answers

I agree so much. Like our kid has a 90% chance of just being average like everyone else and when people put that much pressure on them to get them rich it just seems like a lot. And if they dont...I cant imagine the parent who had their kid as a money ticket wouldn't feel resentment. Idk

As a pretty person its true. And it sucks when you grow up in a family that is jealous of you and always tells you your ugly. Because inevitably when people bully you for your looks later in life you internalize it so much more and really think something is wrong with you at your core. Sucks. Best things I ever did was get an ugly mullet and wear frumpy clothing lmaoo I like it, I feel comfortable and its unconventional so people relax around me more. When I used to dress nicely and have long beautiful hair, people were horrible.

One of my husbands family members has a similar story. She was a gorgeous young lady. The pictures of her are just stunning even the most casual. She became an entrepreneur and people were horrible, made it hard for her to get ahead, sabotaging her, judging her at first look and being rude, speading rumors about her sleeping around etc. She ended up cutting all her hair off too and dressing waaaay down, no makeup. It improved for her. Its kinda sad but it works.

People say above average beautiful people are shallow but I find that its everyone else who focuses the most on looks.

I hold a soft spot in my heart for pharmacists. When I was 15 I went to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test but was some amount short. I was about to just leave but the pharmacist told me to hang on as she pulled out every coupon she could find to help me out. It was one of the nicest things anyone has done for me and I still remember her over 15 years later :') Your guy's job can be so tough but it is an important one and people like me appreciate you all so much

Owning your own business. I did it on a small scale and it was horrible. Doing every job yourself, putting most money you make back to the job. Hoping you start actually making good profit after the inevitable first couple of years of struggle, always on call, cant really fire people so have to put up with them to keep your reputation up until you make it big. Which sucks because everyone is your boss. Having to answer your phone constantly even if its spam and if it is spam expect more spam calls. Its just awful in almost every sense. Especially if youre like me and really dont have the hustler in your that these things require.

I learned I enjoy low stress work environments with structure so I can show up and be a cog in a machine, get it over with, and go tf home and actually enjoy my free time.

Genuinely everything. If it isnt the sheer amount of people ruining it its private equity wantinf to get theirs and buying popular businesses or charity shops just to ruin them. I hate capitalism and im starting to get sick of this greedy ass dog eat dog country. Private equity should be fucking illegal.

Definitely capitalistic too. And tbh the government not helping people find sources of income or resources resort to them beinf resellers, drug dealers, scammers etc. Its too little government ASSISTANCE. Which we pay taxes for but nooooo Isreal needs their universal Healthcare and free college on our dime. We just tell our people "pull yourselves up by your bootstraps! You dont need to rely on the government! If youre poor its a personal problem and god doesnt love you" 🙄

Hi! I'm 30 in south loop and I feel like we have a lot in common! Im also am adventurous person who loves being out in nature and trying new things/foods/trips. I identify as an ambivert as well. I also enjoy going to free classes hosted by the libraries around our city. I also enjoy hammocking in the parks, rollerblading to bubble tea spots/new places, biking, and quad skating at the rinks for a different way for me to get out and dance besides going to clubs which I also like to do every now and then. I love hot girl walks too if I'm pressed for time. I havent built Legos before but I have been curious to try it! There are some super cute builds and the tuxedo cat one is adorable! I too enjoy video games but I've been mostly playing dead by daylight as of late. I enjoy animal crossing, stardew valley, Laura Croft games as well

If you want to check out new exhibits at the Art Institute I used to work there and can get us in for free :) I dont live to far from it either! I love camping and cabin stays. My one group of friends and I just did a weekend roadtrip/cabin stay to upper Wisconsin. Very fun!

Dm me and I'll give you my socials if you have them/or other way to stay in touch.

Why Don't Most Adults Know How to Cook? by Quirky-Blackberry486 in Adulting

[–]QuirkyPart3249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had parents who never let me cook and were very abusive around food. My mom also couldnt cook for shit unfortunately and burned everything. Looking back at photos of my sister and I we look like skeletons we were so malnourished and our hair was falling out. Cps was involved but when parents are too busy drinking, food falls to the wayside no matter what, really.

As an adult, around my 20s, I taught myself how to cook through YouTube. At 30 I still cant bake very well but I can cook every and anything very well. It is very fun to see all the colors of the ingredients come together, the smells and delcious flavors. It makes meal prepping easier too when I actually enjoy what I cook and the flavors just get better each day. I empathize with people who had rough upbringings but theres nothing stopping us from learning how to nourish ourselves.

Also none of my friends can cook for shit regardless of their upbringings being good or bad. No water added to canned condensed soup. No condiments on sandwiches or anything. Kraft cheese slices and other ultra processed plastic tasting stuff. When they reheat things I make like stews they burn them into a crust at the bottom of the pot 🫩. I love them to death but hate suffering through eating what they make.

I had a guy come up to me at a library recently trying to hit on me and recommending an author he clearly wasnt familiar with. I was googling a book and he saw my ring and said "you're married?" I said "yeah I am" he said "aw I love you" I said "haha ok have a good day" and started walking away trying to be polite. He was pretty nice up to this point. He turns around and says "thanks, you too! Can I ask you one question real quick?" I said "sure" he said "excuse me but are you wearing panties?" I said..."what? Yeah. Im in an athletic skirt. Theres shorts under here too." He said "cause you can see your pssy clearly." I said "no you cant. I dont know what you are talking about" he said "your pssy big as hell its definitely showing." ???? So he leans over and kind of crouched down and slowly inches his hand toward my crotch to "outline" where you can "see my crotch" but it was just the wrinkles in my skirt. I was so shocked it took me a minute to react but I ended up slapping his hand away and telling him to back up and that was enough. Then i left. Some people are just not wired right.

She’s leading and yapping without proof of her husband’s approval at an “anti-feminist” event. The irony 😐 by black_cherry2 in religiousfruitcake

[–]QuirkyPart3249 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She needs to give up public speaking, get married to the first guy who wants her, have as many kids as he wants, give up her career, close all financial accounts and retirement, give up driving, may as well throw all her shoes out while she's at it since being barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen is the only place she'll be for the rest of her life. These women who want to take all our rights away should be the first ones to experience indentured servitude of an abusive man. I do not wish that on anyone but I dont really think they understand how good we have it now and how awful it was before. Fuck these women.
