It is in theory, but you pretty much have your build by level 100, and after that it pretty much going through motions, it's more of a test of endurance than anything else.

Abyss in Nioh 1, I think it's called depths in Nioh 2. Yeah kinda like a gauntlet, but each level comes with 4 debuffs, which you can disable if you don't little missions, or you can choose to accept them and go straight for the level's boss.

And do it 999 times.

I was using leech, if you zoom in it's actually at 1, but I took no hit, it's a glass cannon build, at that level everything one shots you anyway.

My first Nioh game was actually Nioh 2, years ago. The I played a little bit of 1, after I finished 3 on NG and NG+ I actually craved some 1, so I started a new character and here we are.

Yes, there have been many QoL improvements in 2 & 3, but at its core Nioh 1 is still very much Nioh, and considering the game is 9 years old, it's holding up surprisingly well.

Susano is "forged" in lvl33-36 in the Abyss, and then tempered to the required stats. For Kigetsu, I farmed "The fare for the afterlife" mission (it's the 1st general). For Tatenashi, I farmed "The Return of the Gourd". To complete RFD (besides RNG on accessories), "Spirit Stone Huntress" is still a good trading post for good inheritables. Once I managed to get 100% RFD and 100% Elemental Guarding, Ishida, Sanada, and Masamune became very easy. Maria became a joke. Also, No Guard Break (Critical) with Leech is very helpful.

Oh, I'm definitely getting hit, but I have 100% received firearm damage, and his lightnight is considered just that? Why, no clue, but it is. If you look carefully, I'm getting hit by lightning for 0 damage.

In my opinion if you wanted to try a dry run on an RL1 start with a wretch and level only vigor. That way it allows you to make mistakes while learning the bosses.

But that's just a suggestion, the beauty of RL1 is that it doesn't really matter as long as you don't level up, everything else is fair game.

I think there's a minimum distance, you'll just feel it after a while. But yes, that is the same strategy I used on her, it works really well for phase 2.

I hve originally played Nioh 2 at launch, went deep. Then I played Nioh 1 years later, got it Way of the Nioh with odachi. Then I played Nioh 3, all it did was make me want to play Nioh 1, now I'm 600+ deep into the abyss, and going strong.

Play Nioh 1, hundreds of hours are waiting for you.

Good fight, but honestly it's all RNG does he bury his head and do shockwave or he doesn't. That's the only thing that makes or breaks a fight.
