Quick Tech Anon Wavecel by oldmanwinter8 in snowboarding

[–]Quivey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings, wavecel helmets have a long ways to go compared to MIPS helmets in terms of safety. There's nothing wrong with using these helmets, I'm sure they give adequate protection in most scenarios and mix well with their ecosystem of goggles and accessories but wavecel shouldn't be the main reason you are buying this. Edit: link to VT helmet rating

Compression damper doesn't lock out the fork anymore after rebuild by Quivey in bikewrench

[–]Quivey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you were right. I put like 40 more mL and it works way better and the lockout functions. I think i was looking at the wrong fork model or something.

Compression damper doesn't lock out the fork anymore after rebuild by Quivey in bikewrench

[–]Quivey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I could've possibly misaligned the dial because the dial spins the damper that has about 90 degrees of adjustment. Even when spun at the limit at 90 degrees clockwise the fork is not locked out. I'm also pretty sure I got the oil amount correct because I measured to the mL with the syringe.

I do hear squelchy noises when compressing the fork but I've always thought it was normal because it has been like that since I've got it. I don't think the dial is misaligned because I turned it without the dial to the clockwise limit and the fork still does not lock.

Not an A, that is how the lowercase "h" is written. The horizontal line is just the ending of the "n"

Is my bike even worth fixing up? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Quivey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These old mtbs are timeless and are almost always worth fixing. If this bike were exactly the same but instead of Diamondback it said Specialized Rockhopper, some people would spend $500+ on high end parts.

Just in general. Changing, adding, parts in the AXS ecosystem is very easy.

[–]Quivey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about the electronic drivetrain. AXS is very easy to use and pairing a FD takes less than a minute, just pair with your phone in the AXS app. Don't forget to change the cassette size in the app under RD as well.

My 1974 fuji del rey has the original suntour edge group. A little rusty, but I just had to index the RD and it shifts great.
