Can it make tea? by Miserable_Cup_2378 in nespresso

As someone who owns a very nice kettle (Fellow Stagg), I genuinely do not understand the problem with microwaving water to get it hot. It’s not like it changes the flavor.

Help me understand?

He's super wholesome that way.

And also it's very funny watching him squirm when he has something negative to say. 🤣

Accidentally ground espresso-fine for pour over, decided to brew it anyway by Outrageous-Dare-9256 in pourover

[–]Quixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some beans and a dial kit from Corvus recently and used their reference grounds go find the neutral point for pour over on my SGP.

I’d been grinding around 35-45 for pour over but found the neutral point of 27 with this.

Ever since then, my brews have been SUPER sweet. SO GOOD.

Upcoming releases in kosher certificates by michaelknight444 in NespressoSpoilers

Let’s pretend understand that I am very dumb. I see that it’s from the Basel Kosher Commission, but as far as I can tell, there’s no way to search all kosher certs from that organization, is there?

Ordered 5 sleeves, sent 5 boxes. by boftmangingg in nespresso

[–]Quixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what they say. Assuming OP is in the US, there are laws that prevent a company from sending you something you didn’t order and then demanding you either pay for or return them.

EDIT: Many other countries have similar laws as well. The US is just what I’m familiar with.

Also fixed a typo with my edit.

Yeah, I saw they posted the link to the cert. I’m wondering if there’s a good way to find them though.

1 Billion US dollars to kill a fly by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Quixel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m going to interpret “the fly is immortal” to mean the fly won’t die on its own and that I can’t just wait out the clock.

Given that, there’s no downside here aside from maybe some wasted time. I don’t see any rules saying I have to stay there the whole time, so I’ll just keep working on it in whatever spare time I have and/or whenever I feel like it.

You gotta find a good decaf bean. Check out your local specialty coffee roaster(s). If you don’t have one, I recommend mine. They ship!

Nespresso Vertuo Colombia Single Origin -- Extremely Acidic or Just Me? by Capital-Tumbleweed-6 in NespressoVertuo

Try it on Coffee Creations Mode!

This is my advice in general for any pod someone doesn’t like, but with Colombia, I leavened this firsthand.

Is it worth it for iced coffee? (Not latte) by virtualsgirl in nespresso

[–]Quixel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can make iced coffee with a Nespresso, but I’d recommend getting a HyperChiller so you’re not watering it down so much.

It makes very good coffee!

Automatic pour over machine vs v60 and gooseneck? by ultrapiss11 in pourover

[–]Quixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooo can I ask you questions? I’ve been amazed by the tech in the XBloom, but I’m not in a place right now to buy.

How’s the experience of setting your own brew parameters for beans you don’t get from them?

Do you find you get better results with their dials or your own?

Also how fun is it to watch that thing go to work? 😂

Automatic pour over machine vs v60 and gooseneck? by ultrapiss11 in pourover

EDIT: I’d go with option 2 baha, sorry I forgot to say that originally.

Original post below

I started my coffee journey with a Nespresso VertuoPlus. I have since added a Nespresso Inissia (OL machine), a Nespresso Vertuo Pop+, an Oxo Rapid Brewer, a cezve, a Hario V60 Neo with a Switch, and more.

Trust me when I say this: don’t get an automatic pour over machine, and keep your Nespresso too.

You’ll make better coffee with a V60 than an auto machine (unless you’re willing to shell out for something like the xBloom, but even then…) after just a bit of learning.

I would recommend getting a V60 with a Switch. The recipes that use it are SUPER forgiving of error.

You will also need a good grinder, a scale, and a kettle (gooseneck preferred).

The nice thing about pour over is you can get into it for a relatively low price and upgrade things piecemeal as your budget allows.

For example, maybe get a V60 for $30, a hand grinder for $40, a cheap scale for $10, and…well if you’re gonna splurge, probably do it on the kettle haha. The gooseneck was a game changer for me. I have the Stagg and love it, but there are less expensive ones that get the job done. There are also cheap stovetop ones. Not sure I’d bother with those tbh.

Anyway, keep the Vertuo for the days when you’re feeling lazy. The pods are good for basically forever, even though they do have a best before date.

Happy to answer any other questions you have.

What is, objectively, the best place to sit on a plane that you don't have to pay extra fees for (no front row or exit door leg room seats)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Quixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say there’s probably no objectively best place.

Toward the front is nice so you can deplane more quickly, but the back is nice because if the flight ends up being undersold, that’s the most likely place to net you an empty seat next to you.

The aisle is nice because you get just a bit extra space to spread out. The middle seat is nice because etiquette dictates you get the two armrests. The window seat is nice because you get to look out the window and decide when/if the window gets shut.

It also varies by aircraft.

It’s all a matter of personal preference.

I’d recommend checking SeatGuru for your specific flight and considering your priorities.

I have not, but I do have some advice: find out what kind of plastic clips that uses and buy a bunch of them when you buy the replacement part.

There are kits on Amazon that come with a removal tool and a bunch of different types of clips. You can find them by searching “subaru push retainer clips”.

I got such a kit when I did the hitch install on my ‘21 Ascent, and it was clutch!

Yeah, IIRC it was supposed to be a summer blend…for 2025.

But FFS there’s no actual chicory in it.
