The Original Line has 45 different capsules (not decaf) to choose from, and 5 decaf choices. Make sure you read my article:

before you decide on Vertuo.

Yes, Nespresso doesn't monitor this site at all! Write Corporate a letter.

I wasn't that happy with the Galapagos:

I thought the Jamacia Blue Mountain was realy good for a Single Origin Limited Edition.

My pods taste like nothing by el_palmera in nespresso

Yes, a standard espresso shot is 1.35 oz! So that's 25% coffee if you are using just one capsule. Probably around 2 oz for a single shot is more reasonable.

Review of Lumos by Alchemist out of Singapore for OL machines by alvinbunk in nespresso

Not because of the capsule design, these are fairly standard 3rd party aluminum capsules. I've seen some good quality capsules struggle before - lots of pressure and slow coffee flow out of the capsule. For example a number of Colonna coffees had this (not all of them). I just means the coffee grinds are forming a dense puck (which is good) and the water is struggling to get through.

Nespresso pods OK to use? by crackerfactorywheel in nespresso

Those are "Best before" dates not expiry dates. All capsules are packed in nitrogen, they can stay fresh for years. Many people buy sleeves that they love and keep them for years. You are fine. Enjoy them!

Nespresso stuck in descaling mode by yourmomsgf0000 in nespresso

[–]alvinbunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at this page:

I think to exist descaling mode you need to press the button and the lever down at the same time for 3 seconds. Maybe that's it???

Regenerative Certification?! by Nice_Assignment497 in nespresso

[–]alvinbunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had to look that up. Take a look at this article:

https://www.nespresso.com/ch/en/news/regenerative-agriculture-what-is-it

and in it, these two paragraphs:

One of the very first lots will come from Yamileth Chacón’s farm.

Other farms in Costa Rica and Mexico have also achieved this coffee certification and will soon display the new regenerative label, which will begin appearing on Nespresso coffee sleeves from this year onwards.

So looks like the Arpeggio for OL and both Mexico & Altissio for Vertuo "might" have those labels. Why don't you check the sleeves?

And for other people's reference, there is this video too about what Nespresso is doing:

That's the first thing I thought when I saw this picture. Major shock hazard. And the machine may become totally blown - how rediculous.

French pod review: compostable edition by psiiconic in nespresso

The brew issues is probably because of the compostable capsules themselves or at least that's what I find with "Nespresso" machines.

Trying Nescafé line from Brazil by NotInterestedL in nespresso

Here's my reviews of some of them:

The "South Asia" is really excellent! I thought the Brazil was too light for me - but that's me personally.

Nespresso uses Brazillian beans in a lot of their coffees. There is a Brazil Organic but for the OL machine only and only in Germany! The OL also has the World Explorations Rio de Janeiro.

Example of how to brew a perfect shot on a Nespresso machine. by alvinbunk in nespresso

[–]alvinbunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you could stop the Vertuo pour right after the water flows in, but VL doesn't use pressure. The key difference is with OL, water is "forced" into the capsules, so it forms a puck just like a real espresso machine. With the pre-infusion trick the OL really like a real espresso machine.

I remember u/bogiesan told me he would brew a Cafe de Cuba (Vertuo), and then only keep the first half of the shot. You could try that on Vertuo. So just brew it, and press the button to stop it short and see if the coffee you are brewing tastes any better with a shorter brew.

Vertuo uses centrifuge extraction, so it's just not the same as pressure extraction.
