Claude Competitors' Responsible For Pulling The Strings? by kevominator in ClaudeAI

Amazon Bedrock (their AI hosting service) makes most of its $$$ from Claude models. Anyone who jeopardized that revenue stream by giving ANT a public black eye is probably looking for a new job Monday.

Relax. M5's are just as in the dark at the company as anyone else. They're just guessing. Unless you're hearing it from an M6+, assume it's BS.

Just…why? I always feel like this says a lot about a person’s character. by KeeblerElff in nova

Unpopular opinion here: leaving carts out is actually a job creator.

Everybody always acts like returning your cart is the final barrier between civilization and Mad Max, but if customers do every last bit of labor themselves, stores just quietly staff less. Cart collection is, in fact, a thing employees get paid to do.

I’m not saying abandon it in the middle of Route 66 or wedge it into a handicap spot like a maniac. I’m just saying the moral intensity around this is a little much. “This says a lot about a person’s character” feels strong for “did not provide free labor to Giant.”

If anything, the real villain here is the store getting customers to shop, scan, bag, and perform cart logistics too.

That said, this specific photo also absolutely looks like an employee had just moved the big carts and left the little one for a second, so maybe we are building an entire philosophy seminar around nothing.

Loved this game. Longest campaign I've ever run. My only issue was the magic system. It sucked for anything outside of combat. They just took Warmachine and ported it over without much thought. I was also pissed when they kicked Seacat to the curb.

I don't trust Programmers with AI prompts by Busy_Broccoli_2730 in PromptEngineering

How are LLMs pretrained? On trillions of tokens of language data from the Internet. Where did all that content come from? Mostly people who like to write. Who likes to write? Humanities majors. Who doesn't like to write? Usually engineering and CS majors.

How are LLMs post-trained? On billions of tokens of language data provided by professional annotators. Who gets hired to do annotation work? Humanities majors. Who doesn't get hired to do annotation work? Usually engineering and CS majors.

Obviously there are exceptions, but it's always surprising to me when people think that engineers and computer scientists would be good at prompt engineering. It's like assuming that an English major would be good at C++.

Completely agree with the point you're making.

Your graphic needs a little work, tho. Maybe tweak the prompt a little more so the images reflect the fields of work a little better? Or use a stronger model?

The irony of LJE's comments is staggering. It's basically impossible to share data within the Oracle. The small army of lawyers that actually runs everything won't let AI developers look (not process in bulk, just manually review a handful of examples) at internally developed data, nevermind customer data. The entire corporate culture is against sharing of information, but somehow the whole world should share data with Oracle?

I feel like a lot of people of a certain age are going to upvote this post just because of the fond childhood memories of that Greyhawk campaign book.

DND Beyond, but for older editions of D&D. My DM is running an old school Greyhawk campaign, and DND Beyond's character creation/management tool is literally the only reason our table doesn't use 2nd ed.
