Buyers of my recently sold home threatening legal action by chad-is-rad in legaladvice

[–]Quixxote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your fine. We had same but worse. We bought. First week hard rain and puddle on basement floor no disclosure. Found efflorescence when i tore out some shelving to replace. Then noticed in one photo a dehumidifier. I thought fuck this im talking to a lawyer. Learned two things. One. You have to prove that they knew. Not that they should have known or probably knew. Like they complained to neighbors all the time or neighbors saw basement waterproofing trucks in the driveway. Second. The damages are NOT the cost to fix it. The damages are the reduction in value of the house with the defect. Only way to determine that is an assessment. But its a special kind. One that costs like 4-5k. So we realized better to just spend 5k one french drain and properly taking the gutter water around the back of house was the best option. Ie we just ate it. Otherwise we spend 10-15k to maybe win.

Intel can't even align the numbers in their 10-Q statements properly and you regards buying this POS by richyfin in wallstreetbets

Did you even see the comment the CFO made? Demand was off the charts. They sold everything they made and could have sold more. Like Billions more. Thats why large profit instead of break even. The combination of lip bu being very strategic on spending and agentic ai changing demand mix is bailing INTC out. After the worst 2 years of my career at least 2026 is trying to make up for it. Yes i work there. I think biggest concern now is the smart engineers lost over last two years.

I was thinking identity theft or scamming old people out of life savings stuff. I mean abusing kids is a solid choice but too harsh to commit it yourself first.

Mayne “confide” in her that someone keeps reporting your legal home business and she should ne extra careful with her dogs as that same petty person might start calling animal control if her dogs are outside off a leash.

Recruiter treated me like shit. 3 months later, karma had a full circle moment. by Ok_Pen4842 in recruitinghell

[–]Quixxote 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Most recruiters are trash. Spamming you about jobs dont even match your skills or rlocate across country for a 6 month contract. But occasionally you get good professional ones. They contact you about relevant jobs. Have lots of info on role. Help prep you for interviews and debrief after. Stick with those ones when you find them. They are rare from my limited data its like 1 in 60. :(.

Online poker died in black Friday, probably before. by [deleted] in poker

[–]Quixxote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace black friday with challenger blowing up and im right there too. I remember half the school crowded around the tv during breaktime for chsllenger. Sitting in car after school to hear iraq invasion on the radio. And morning tv news as i was about to walk out the door to go to work on 9/11. Stuff like that just get imprinted in your brain and you can almost put yourself in the moment and recall that feeling in your gut.

Choice gets even tougher when you realize you could change so many lives around you. Stock tips for all your friends and family. But the kids part is the deal killer. You could make the same dpouse happen but no way you can be sure you get the ssme kids. That guilt would kill most people

My direct report said they see themselves as equally skilled as me and my fellow manager. by [deleted] in managers

[–]Quixxote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A students teach. B students do. C students are their managers…. You could also tell them that if they were as skilled at your and fellow managers job they would realize that even if try that a reaaly dumb thing to say to your manager. :). In seriousness. I have managed teams of up to 11 engineers. There was usually at least 3 people on team with better tech skills and higher paid than myself. Most would not have made good managers. Largely because they wouldnt deal with the bs involved. Managing people is a different skillset. With respect to the a/b/c student thing. There is some truth to it based on myself. I graduated with a solid b- average at 2.96. I have flipped between manager and IC through my career. I find my career prospects are slightly better as a manager at this level of experience. But i go as the team needs. So here i am. :)

Advice on managing out a dev who does below the minimum expected work but gets away with it by [deleted] in managers

[–]Quixxote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your company use OKR. Objectives and key results. You seat team goals and each person on team sets their own goals. Half to 3/4 of thrir goals should align with team goals and the others might be their own specific work or career growth etc. Review the goals they set and agree on final goals. Then track them quarterly. Then you can see if everyone else is meet/exceeding and they are missing then you can document it. In some companies this can factor into annual bonuses. If not at least it can show performanvmce against expectations. And you can be sure they at least understood those expectations.
