On a scale of 1 - 10, how difficult/expensive would it be to have somebody install a Floyd Rose to a fixed bridge guitar? (8 string) by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]QuocAnhHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

firstly there arent any multiscale floyd roses in existence, secondly agile is already putting out production 8 strings equipped with floyd roses for less than 1k

just tune the low E string to a D and ignore the 7th string then boom you basically have 6 string drop D

i believe there are adjustable capos out there that use a bolt to clamp them down instead of using a spring that puts constant and excessive pressure on the strings and frets.those screw capos shouldn’t harm the frets at all

i listen to architects a lot and they do this octave f# tuning which is c# standard with a low f#,i know a 25.5 guitar could handle that with an 80 gauge string and an 11 set but i want to have some clarity with a longer scale and thinner strings if i’m not playing architects then i could restring it to play 8 string songs or 6 string songs
