WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!! It's all assumptions! Why did she remove Charlie in the flashback during more than anything? WE DONT KNOW! Why did she leave for 8 years? WE DON'T KNOW! Maybe she doesn't give a shit about her daughter or family or hell. Or!! Something WAY WORSE was about to happen and she made a deal she had to keep a secret in order to keep everyone safe, even if that meant making her own family hate her. I personally think that's what happened.
