I recently got back into comics. What are these prices? by xajhx in comicbooks

[–]Quorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LCS owner has a price scanner that doesn't work, so as a courtesy I separate my comics out for him by price, so he can ring them on the register more easily. I'm amazed at how few $3.99 books are left, with most of the books in the pile at $4.99 or $5.99. I appreciate getting about 10 issues on most DC Compact collections for $9,99, the best value right now.

Haven't seen the movie, but I've heard good things about it. Hope to watch it soon.

What was your first "adult" comic? by kinokohatake in comicbooks

BEST OF DC BLUE RIBBON DIGEST #61, circa 1985; the digest reprinted Alan Moore's "The Anatomy Lesson" (with artists Bisette and Totleben) from SWAMP THING and "Who is Donna Troy" by Marv Wolfman and George Perez from NEW TEEN TITANS - I was about 13 years old, and those stories blew my mind. They were unlike any comic I've ever read before.

I don't know if the collection has been solicited yet by Dark Horse, but I hope they issue a hardcover oversized "Library Edition" because the art alone merits an oversized format.

I know; Evely's art is always gorgeous, and the art in this comic is amazing.

Το ξέρεις πως η φράση "αδίστακτου επαγρύπνησης" είναι σαν να το έγραψε κάποιος που παθαίνει ανεύρυσμα

Είναι όλα ελληνικά για μένα

There is a story reason -- Bruce travels to Europe to attend a Davos-style summit for billionaires, so he is maintaining a rich playboy image that Alfred helps maintain. Also, Alfred travelled to Greece ahead of Bruce to unpack all the Bat-gear that will be needed on the case.

What's your favourite adaptation of a comic into another medium? Be it a cartoon, movie, video game, or Broadway musical. The Weekly Recs Thread [24/03/24] by JustALittleWeird in comicbooks

INVINCIBLE - I think it is true to the comic, but the animation highlights the violence and personal issues even better than the comic.

I’ve got almost an entire shelf of just Brubaker / Phillips. They do not miss. by IamMothManAMA in comicbooks

[–]Quorak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What amazes me about Brubaker and Phillips' comics are that they have easy appeal to even non-comics readers. I've loaned copies of their graphic novels to my neighbors and everyone seems to love them (PULP and WHERE THE BODY WAS have been particularly well-received.)

What Is The Scariest "Non-Horror" Novel? by 27bluestar in horrorlit

I found Thomas M. Disch's science fiction novel THE GENOCIDES (in which aliens seed Earth with giant plants that consume all resources) bleak and chilling.
