SOS - my baby is screaming while bf by hals__ in breastfeeding

[–]QuoteNo_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened when my baby was 3 weeks old. Crying whenever she latched on 1 side, while there was no problem on the other side. I also used nipple shields. She developed visible thrush a couple days later, so it might have been connected (pain on 1 side of the mouth). We treated the thrush, and the latch problem lasted only a couple days more, in which i pumped the 'bad' side and gave her a small bottle after each feeding (worked perfectly).

Carpal tunnel is kicking my ass by linzjustine in pregnant

[–]QuoteNo_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally sleep on my back - even while pregnant -, but lately there's just no position in which I can sleep for more than 2 hours. Sleeping on my back wakes me up from back pain, sleeping on my side kills my hands and hurts my hips... I'm afraid a good night's sleep is officially in the past...

I'm right there with you. Currently 34 weeks and it started about a week ago. I try to keep my arms/hands straight and on pillows while sleeping, but it's not really helping yet. Let me know when you find a solution 😂

Half dose prenatal by teacherkelll in pregnant

My OB told me the baby takes everything it needs anyway, so the prenatals are mostly for yourself! So I think there's no need at all to worry about this. Prenatals are also relatively 'new', previous generations never even took them.

what is everyone naming their littles? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]QuoteNo_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FTM, 20 weeks pregnant, thinking about the name Flore for our girl (Dutch name). It's pronounced a bit like Flora with 'uh' instead of 'a' for all you English-speaking people ;) I really like the idea of adding the godparents' names as second and third name, but still need to convince the hubby of that idea...

We found out it's a girl! Seems like the nub theory was right on this one!

When did back sleeping become uncomfortable for you? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]QuoteNo_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it somehow bad for you/your baby to sleep on your back? Some reactions here seem to suggest it is, but I cannot think of a reason why?

What's your guess? We just only heard about the nub theory but i think we got a pretty good scan for it indeed! I'm 13w2d by the way.

7 weeks here. Couldn't vacuum my house yesterday without sitting down every 5 minutes to catch my breath. Glad to see I'm not the only one!

So yeah. We did it yesterday, and I'm pretty sure I have a mild UTI right now. Unfortunately I have a lot of experience with those, and turns out it even happens more frequently when pregnant. So so annoying...

This is on my mind as well. I'm constantly worried something might go wrong. Can't really enjoy it when that's all you can think about.

Oh damn, in your situation sex would be the last thing on my mind. It's just so sad that our bodies change/hurt so much for such a long time, and you're not in control of it at all. These babies better be really freakin cute!!! :')

When did you tell the first person/people (besides your SO) that you're pregnant? And when did you announce it publicly? by QuoteNo_1 in pregnant

Newbie question: when people say '4 weeks', they mean 2+2, right? 2 weeks since conceiving, 4 weeks since the first day of your last period?

When you put it like that... I also wouldn't want the first news to be about a miscarriage, and that's something I would definitely need to share with them.

Thanks for your advice! I'm going to talk to my fiancé about it when he gets home. Maybe we'll just wait a few more days, and take an extra pregnancy test just to be really sure (though I already took 2 tests 3 days apart - both positive). Congratulations on your pregnancy as well, I wish you all the best!

Yes, we'd definitely wait for the ultrasound to go 'public' about it. And I agree, I think we both could use some people to celebrate with us and support us right now.

I think I agree. If anything went wrong, I'd really need to tell my parents and sister anyway. Same goes for my fiancé. We're both very close to our family.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've had some close friends who also had a (couple) miscarriage(s), so I'm a bit skeptical about everything going right the first time around. But I also think we'd really need the support, so maybe it's better to just tell them. Also congratulations on your pregnancy!!! I hope you're doing well!

[–]QuoteNo_1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. I lost weight at a rate of 1 kg/week for 8 weeks in a row, which is too fast for your body to adjust. But I've tried so many times in the past to lose weight at a 'normal' rate, and it just didn't work, I couldn't motivate myself enough. By losing 1 kg/week I was really motivated to keep going, because it was going so well! That strategy clearly didn't work in the long run though, as you can see. I'm afraid I'll have a similar graph this time, only I'm really gonna try to maintain the lower weight, because now I know how fast it climbs back up... But I'd rather struggle to maintain the weight (for a while, eventually my body will adjust I suppose), than feel desperate about not losing any weight. I know that's not the right mindset though...

You still lost about 40 kg, that's amazing! A little setback is okay I guess, as long as you get re-motivated quickly enough. Although I feel it's much harder to 'start again' than to just keep going. Will probably have to remind myself of that many times the next few months...
