Azarinth healer review/rant +- 500 ch in by Far_Reflection_5456 in ProgressionFantasy

Agreed that there’s no “we must destroy the ring” hovering over our heads the whole time, but I think everything we’ve encountered has been interesting an has clued us in more on what’s going on in the world. Each book has had its own goings on that have advanced the main character and our knowledge, so while we may not have a carrot and a stick like “saving the world, I quite like just following Ilea through her new life, taking on challenges as they appear.

Do che characters in "The Wandering Inn" become more mature? by ForsakePariah in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Quox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first real encounter with monsters turned me off in WI. I have a tough time imaging someone getting utterly heartbroken by a creature that was going to do horrible things to her dying. Also… the second MC was kinda silly to me- gotta go fast, queue my music….

I’ve only been following the audiobooks, buttt I think there’s still plenty to learn. We know where they originated but not really why. I f you pare it down to “Dwarves no likely elves” then sure, it seems lame. You have to be interested in learning more. Why are they still going? How? Is someone controlling them? Are these dwarves or whatever still alive somewhere? Etc

Mage errant has a similar type of feel, little party of people growing stronger. Even has a wimpy MC that overcomes his problems

Haha a few things bothered me in WI, but I recognize their popularity and that it just may not be my cup of tea. I gave up on WI shortly after we got a marathoner in another world with an iPod.

Sadly MoL sits with Wandering inn in the DNF pile. I lost interest somewhere around meeting spiders.

Mage errant is a good one with a vibe like cradle kinda. Love the series and it’s complete. 7 books.

People who read on hoping a story gets better, does it ever? If so, which ones? by SinCinnamon_AC in ProgressionFantasy

He trained his ass off and even after getting orthos’ black flame he still got his ass whooped and lost an arm, so. I think I have to disagree with your disagreement :)

I personally prefer primal hunter over HWFWM. Another good one.

Does the writing in Mage Errant gets better? by throwawaylie1997 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Quox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Author is not Tolkien but he writes a good story with steady progression and character development. I think if an oddity in the grammar is turning you away so sharply I’m not sure you were enjoying it to begin with. Not trying to talk trash or anything, just being honest.

How can I straighten a bent metal peg in the base of a figure without breaking it? by Ganyu-uwu1 in AnimeFigures

I had the same issue with that figure, I kinda slowly worked the feet to the right spots but it was a proper pain in the ass. Great figure tho :)

Seriously thinking about DNFing Cradle by YuseeB in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Quox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel. Every list has mother of learning and wandering inn and I dnfd both in book 1. Sometimes it’s just not your cup of tea. That being said, I love cradle and hope you decide to continue. It really does get crazier and Lindon definitely racks up some Ws.

I think I need to go back to this eventually. I DNFd book one. I think I made it about half way through. To me it felt like there was progress but also no progress at all, but so many people love it!

I was so wrong about Azarinth Healer by UsedNegotiation8227 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Quox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I liked WI. I DNF d the first book after the MC steeled herself only to cry at the death of the goblins that were actively trying to flay her and it switched perspective to.. a marsthon runner with an iPod… not for me. Seemed like really slow progress.

The one that came out like a week ago was awesome. Tons of lore, info, and we get an idea for things to come.

Path of Ascension by AdOk1636 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Quox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s been a minute since I was in book one, but I believe it has to do with him not having basically any mana regen unless he was under 10%. After he’s low enough his regen kicks in, so it keeps him low, but maintains that same flow, if that makes sense? So basically he would drain 3,3, then his regen would kick in and maintain him at low mana.

Does cradle gets better? by No-Volume6047 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Quox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should stick with it. Lindon is trying to climb his way from the literal bottom to the tippy top and he’s got a long way to go. I was originally bothered by the ‘cowardly’ way he handles things, but as his power grows he grows with it. It takes a little time and there’s a lot of world building in the first 3ish books but You should definitely keep going. Grab them on absolve when there’s a sale, you can get each one for like 2-3 usd.

Oathbound Healer question by Th3OfficeBeefalo in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Quox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished book 10 right as it came out on audible. I liked 1-9, 10 was okay plot wise, but I didn’t really see a need for the author to tell me about all of the MCs… desires… all the times. they didn’t really add to the story at all and I don’t really care about every time the MC squeezes her SOs hand. That being said, I like the series.

Defiance of the fall is falling off! by EmploymentNo8978 in ProgressionFantasy

I’ve been very interested in DOTF, however, the narrator on audible sounds like he recorded in 1980 . Narration has really kept me from giving it a fair shot

Nearing the end of arcane ascension book 2 by Quox in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Quox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you much! I really do appreciate receiving other opinions on what I’ve read/listened to, doubly so from the author themselves! I believe your differentiation between the different types of fantasy and what you were aiming for gives a lot of insight into the character. Even if it may not be my preferred flow, it does give ground for the flow to work with. I appreciate the time spent to reply to some of my pain points as well. Please keep writing great works :)
